I have come to the realization that my perfectionism comes from my always finding fault with something and wanting to "fix" it. I look at everything with an attitude of "it could be better if". What a pain in the foot. I can't be happy with anything because it can always be better. I spend years try... |

I have stopped looking and analyzing myself right now because I just don't want to know anymore for awhile. I am concentrating on my son, I just don't want him to struggle so much and get so hurt. May I gently suggest that the more you understand your own spectrum issues, the better able you might ... |

Parent of a ds with AS. Starting to suspect myself of having AS too. Funny thing was that I thought for sure my husband has exhibited traits since our second year of marriage. Now, I realize it is me, not him that is more AS. I have stopped looking and analyzing myself right now because I just don't... |

Omega 3s are DHA and EPA So when you take high DHA or EPA supplements, you are taking Omega3s. It is more important to look at the particulars of anything labeled Omega to find the levels of the DHA or EPA. So it isn't the "Omega" you should be paying attention to, it is the fatty acids DHA and/or E... |

Molly- We follow the 240mg recommendation and try to get as close to that as we can. I think your son should be getting close to 400mg daily. Here is a link to recommendations based on age (typical weights assumed). Scroll down the page for the info. http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/com/ConsSupp... |

This is the one we use (in the chewable wafer form), but the magnesium isn't enough for the age/weight of my son, so we add in one MagOx pill. I was in our health food store yesterday and did actually find a bottle of DMAE (nothing else, just DMAE) 100mg. I didn't get it as I am trying to cut down o... |

INTJ--but I think I parent more like a INFJ. I have discovered more about myself in the past three weeks than I cared too. I was an elementary teacher, the only reason being so I could "save" some children, for one year, from having the awful experiences I had. My childhood and school experiences we... |

I assumed as much with the spinning top marker toy. He also gravitated toward a spinning 3-dimensional open globe type thing in another subtest. The last toy choice section he picked a car, put a string through the car windows and spun the car around in circles. SOOOO....I don't think I am going to ... |

I had questions regarding my son's answers for two of the subtests. He has already taken the test, but we have to wait another month to get the full reports back and the tester is out until then. She had mentioned what she was looking for as she did the test when we had an initial meeting, and I had... |

Can anyone tell me what you know about typical AS responses for the tests within this module? Examples: the choice of three toys to play with (the game, the spinning top that is a marker, and the pin impression thing). Another is the marriage question? What type of responses are more AS? If you have... |

threesnugbugs - Do you wish you had stayed in CA? My husband, his brother, uncle and cousin are all in the IT industry. Shocking, I know. We should all move there. M finally got the shoe tying thing but still wears track pants because he can't do the buttons and this is after 10 years of OT! He had... |

threesnugbugs - how funny is that? Is dyspraxia part of the picture? Tell me about your son. I'd love to compare. No dyspraxia, but he does have difficulty with buttons and tying shoes. Pick apart itty, bitty Legos, no problem! I grabbed the picture I had and the date was even later than I thought ... |

As part of my son's assessment, he was asked to draw a picture of himself. When the doc was discussing his findings he said M's drawing looked like a typical aspie's. I always thought his artwork was intriguing. His early drawings of himself looked like a large floating head with a stick body and n... |
