I have only seen the Aussie version to its completion, but from what I've seen they have generally paired people on the Spectrum with other people on the Spectrum. As if those are the only people whom they have a prayer with. They don't really teach "game" in the show, even though in some ...

"BUT if these same guys looked in places that were a little more "nerdy and autism friendly" they might actually be more likely to succeed in finding a mate where them being weird and a little different might actually be normal and preferred. That's why the irony is that autistic guys...

I don't talk about my dating life so much anymore, because #1. it's upsetting and #2. it has in the past given people the (false) impression that it's literally ALL I care about. Times like this when I talk about this are the exception rather than the rule. In my 20s, I would be brooding about it on...

I would have no problems dating an immigrant woman, provided that she was understanding of someone like me. One issue I'm having is I don't know enough women who are either on the Spectrum or are immigrants, or who have similar issues. I've long speculated that if I were Jewish or were interested in...

Yes, and hopefully you'll be more useful that some other Autism/Asperger's adult groups. I was briefly in one with a group that was based out of LA (the director reached out to me online). I ended up quitting after a few sessions, because I found it to be counterproductive. Sorry, but I'm not paying...

As far as personal life is concerned, they really don't go care that far, save the couple who get married at the end of Season 2. If anything, the fact that people on the Spectrum even date at all is treated as if it's the Eighth Wonder of the World. As has been stated before, this show wasn't desig...

Exactly. If the only thing you and he had in common is Autism, I doubt you two would be friends, let alone in a relationship.

That's less of an Autism thing and more of a human thing. Humans regardless of whether you are Autistic or "neurotypical" tend to prefer being around humans they like and/or think are "cool." The issue that many of us on the Spectrum have is that we aren't generally seen as "...

Of course Autism doesn't guarantee compatibility in relationships. Try telling that to much of mainstream society and even to some disability "experts" though. They just can't let go of the fact that not everyone on the Spectrum is the exact same person.

Blind dates can work if the pair have something in common. The big issue remains that too many people are stuck in the belief that just having Autism in common is enough. I understand that "Love on the Spectrum" is just a television show, but unfortunately we remain a tiny minority of the ...

I just finished "Love on the Spectrum." I found it to be underwhelming. The bulk of the participants don't have a university education and the producers of the show seem to be incapable of accepting that people on the Spectrum often want to date people who aren't on the Spectrum or don't h...

I am an introvert, which is a death sentence when it comes to employment and dating, this day and I. I am willing to learn to be more extroverted if necessary, but again that will need to be taught as if it's an academic subject.

Nowhere did I say that height was the sole issue. The biggest issue is subpar non verbal communication skills, if anything. Not to mention underemployment and low confidence.

Very few people flat out tell you that the issue is height (or lack thereof). NTs expect you to "just know."

I disagree with the assessment that social skills can't be taught. They absolutely can be. The issue is that most people with an ASD have to be taught them as if they are an academic subject. This is unfortunately a foreign concept to most "neurotypicals" for whom the very notion, the very...

I'm not completely surprised about that. If I can generalize here, most people I know on the Spectrum politically tend to either be hardline conservative Christians or borderline Marxists. This tends to be due to the fact that we tend to be prone to black and white thinking and that line of thinking...
