My work is a powerful diversion for the majority of my brainpower. I'm editing 3D models on one of the biggest databases in the world all day and when I leave the office I'm studying free software, digital security/forensics and/or more 3D constructs. In short it is situational for me in that it's ...

Hmm, do you mean that you take about a week to figure out your emotions, or that you only recognise them on weekends (presumably when you're more relaxed).
Because if it's the latter, it sounds situational, which doesn't sound like Alexithymia which is a consistent thing. o.o

To be fair, the best person to 'diagnose' you with Alexithymia is yourself. We all experience emotions differently, it's hard for someone on the outside to know if you have it. Maybe your language for expressing emotions is different but still intact for example. My experience of Alexithymia isn't l...

Anxiety is co-morbid with autism, and for many anxiety is basically a part of their autism. So no it shouldn't be weird, it's easier to diagnose anxiety, and many are misdiagnosed with anxiety or depression before a root cause (either neurological or even physical) is found for those symptoms. So th...

Because you're in the US it's hard for me to answer. But in my case I saw a private psychiatrist through the nhs because they kept messing up my referals (4 in total, over several years). Like you I saw (2) psychologists, who'd seen me for a full year each before saying they agree I have it. I wasn'...

Hi @Salkin, Sorry for the delay but it's up and running now. I'm still getting to grips with using the site! O.O I do think one of the hard things about Alexithymia is the delay in emotional response. So much effort is then spent on trying to figure out where said feelings came from, and its even ha...

y-pod, Its weird, physically I can tolerate lots of different types of pain but I cant imagine being able to pluck my leg hair one by one with tweezers, the pain of that... yikes. Kiriae, Is sugar paste less painful than waxing? If a partner wants me to have smooth legs then they will have to get s...

Depends where I guess? I avoid having sharp things in my house due to bouts of severe depression so if I remove hair it's normally with hair removal cream. Have a nice Milk bath, soya milk is good, it makes your skin super smooth after and apparently can help inhibit/slow down hair regrowth. I'm fol...

I just did a post on this. Yes, we can identify emotions, but only VERY VERY STRONG ONES. Thanks for the reply Alomoes but I was asking if people wanted a Alexithymia Forum, which I'd made now. It's linked above and also in my signature. :) I definitely agree with you on being *able* to identify so...

Yeah the day and month were switched but after correcting it, I'm still prematurely aged! XD It also wouldn't make too much sense as a difference of 19 months wouldn't age me by that many years, but I'm guessing it's some awkward coding stuff that just needs finding and tweaking XD

Hey Camillion, I've created the forum, it can be found here; http://alexithymia.createaforum.com/ In regards to your question 'now what?' I suppose it depends on what you want. I personally am hoping a support group of sorts will help provide both education of the syndrome and provide a place for pe...

Am I the only one getting issues with the new layout? I get about 4 emails a day saying I have inbox messages, when I don't. When I click the link it takes my to my profile to change my password instead of my messages, and it has things like my age being 22 years older than it is, even though my dat...

Hi, I'm definitely interested! =] 0_equals_true and I have chatted and we figured I may as well throw this suggestion out there. I currently organise meets across England through fb, for what I coin the Socially Unusual (which seems to draw in a lot of people on the spectrum and a wonderful array of...

Omg, my cat just erased everything I wrote... I just wanted to say thanks for your reply and I hope we get more interest too as I really want to make this happen. =] I think we're a mostly ignored group and it'd be nice to change that. It was interesting to hear your experiences, I might have to loo...

According to my research about up to 50% of autistics have Alexithymia, a higher portion of people with bpd have significant scores in Alexithymia too, than the general population. If anyone doesn't know, Alexithymia is the inability to identify, describe and express emotions. While we *do* have emo...
