Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Why do Aspies find it hard to tidy / keep the house tidy?

Personally, my flat is above average in terms of tidiness, now that I live alone and have complete control over where everything goes. When I had a house with my ex, her patterns disrupted mine to such an extent that I put only a fraction of the effort into tidying, as the thought of battling again...

I agree with the others, there is no real term for exclusivity. Just "dating" or "boy/girlfriend". It is assumed that if those terms are used, then there is no one else in the picture... however, there are a lot of people in this world and a lot of misinterpretation. It would be ...

I think that considering male nurses as guy is an old stereotype. I still see older people (age 50 and over) that seem to still think this, yet there are so many male nurses everywhere I've worked. I have had patients taken care of by male nurses and they are excellent nurses. One male nurse I know...

He might regret that he treated you bad. But...still, it's over. And he must know that it's over. He's trying to make an excuse to contact you, obviously. Just continue to make it crystal clear that it's "over." I honestly didn't look at it from this angle. I was ready to blame him for be...

Have you asked him why he thinks you are sending him e-mails/calling him? If he does it again, I would just bluntly ask why he thinks you're trying to contact him, say that you haven't, and that you don't plan to in the near future. It sounds like it may just be some sort of misunderstanding, since...

A year ago, my ex-fiance and I called it quits after 6 years. It all started when I postponed our wedding date when he still had issues with my son from my first marriage (he has AS). He had never been around children before and I gave him credit for that and I made accommodations for him when he be...

I hate sports bras... I don't have too much or too little, yet sports bras mash them into one "uniboob".... Spanks bras rock though! They are expensive but worth it and they last forever if you hand wash and hang dry.

anyway, carry on ladies...

IQ tests are not the most definitive measure of intelligence. I was measured at 140, but cannot see this. I have average interests and I am not interested in some subjects that many people would automatically assume I am interested in (math) based on AS. Standardized tests do not accurately predict ...

As you know I'm Polish I wonder if the people especially in the west , think about the Polish language . My issue is the media's portrayal of Autistics in some of their coverage. The biggest issue I've had is the fact that they had to point out that the Sandy Hook gunman had AS and their initial coverage acted like that is the reason he did what he did. I know later that they sighted other issues, but ...

I hate for any of my food to touch or become mixed with other foods on my plate. I have to eat it one at a time. One time, my brother tried to "help" me try cottage cheese and apple sauce the same way he liked to eat it. He loved to mix the cottage cheese and apple sauce together so he too...

Oooh this looks fun. A question to NTs: do you notice even the mildest of aspies, do they seem not right to you even if they're really subtle??? Hi Monkey, Although I think I have some form of AS (very very mild) I have never been diagnosed (never evaluated) so I feel like I can answer this questio...

I think this is a great idea!! ! My questions ( am an NT parent of an AS child): Were you self-injurious as a child? Did you grow out of it and have the feeling fade away or did you come up with specific ways to cope so you wouldn't self-injure? If somebody intervened (such as holding your hands) w...
