The following actually happened to me the other day. I am doing a very small research study on Astrology charts of people with diagnosed ASD and was asking some people on line if they would like to take part, but to do so they must have a diagnosis, because the study is on the dsm 5 criteria and, s... |

I personally do not understand tribal politics, both here in the UK and elsewhere. For me i make an assessment of the policies the parties are putting forward. Here in the uk there is a website which will give you the main parties policies, without identifying whose policy it is. You then select wh... |

In physics, there is constant discussion of electrons and photons. But are they real particles, or are they merely useful abstractions? To my knowledge, an electron or photon has never been the input or output of any experiment. When scientists talk about the electron shell, we are only ever given ... |

Hi to everyone. :) I am doing some research on the Astrology charts of people who have been diagnosed with ASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome or what is otherwise known as high functioning autism. The condition is you 'must' have a diagnosis to take part. Would you like to be a part o... |

I'm very protective of my personal space, and find people being too close to me very uncomfortable, especially if they are out of view. I feel almost like I can sense an "aura" around them that's interfering with mine - it feels like a physical sensation. Eye contact does feel a little &q... |

I have heard it described that way, but not often. I am overly neurotypical and I get along well with autistic people. I get this "overly intimate" feeling if I look into an autistic person's eyes. Like I've accidentally peeped in on them getting dressed or in the bathroom. I try not to m... |

For some reason it feels super intense - like a loud noise, sandpaper or a photo flash - but *for me* not intimate. I've never understood how people think that eye contact = some magical transference of the other person's emotions, other than overt social signals. By overt I mean things like: a wom... |

I know there are enough eye contact topics and this may have already been asked, but, does it feel to anyone else that eye contact is just way too intimate?? I mean it's intense and awkward, but would you use the word intimate too? I would. Also, people standing close and doing the touching thing, e... |

I do the looking through the person to the back of their head thing and glazing my eyes over so my vision is blurry. I'm sure they can't see my blurry vision. I also do little split second eye contacts before looking upwards and saying hmm, with a nod. I kinda look back to their eyes and then keep l... |

it all feels very silly at first, but once the 'game' is being played and you bond a little with people in an nt fashion, it is extremely rewarding and comforting. it makes life that bit more fulfilling. it is definitely worth it. |

Are you nt or are you on the spectrum? I know how difficult making friends is and how much it sucks being lonely. I do have some tips though if you're interested. I don't want to be patronising, I am on the spectrum and my methods have worked, though they are very difficult at first. I'm autistic. ... |
