I did 20 years in the Navy. It was NOTHING like I expected. The regimented lifestyle or mindset doesn't always exist. Someone earlier brought up surviving in a locker room environment, I think that's very apt. Promotion and discipline in the military are very much affected by how much people like yo...

I'm right there with you. I'm going for my assessment on the 25th, and I'm 42. You're feeling a lot of the same things I am, so be assured, you're not the only one. The diagnosis of depression (at least for me) might have been correct, but it's the underlying cause of WHY that might be what's missin...

There are signs when a relationship can be saved, and others when it isn't worth saving. I don't know you, or even all of your situation, but from just what you posted, I'd say that it's time to go. He's not supportive of you. He's emotionally abusive. He's more willing to support his friend than yo...

Just a thought here: If you know that math isn't a strength that you have, you can choose college majors that have a lot less of it. You're taking math, calculus and accounting at the same time? That's got to be problematic. I'm pretty good at math, but I still try to keep each quarter's schedule mo...

I think this will vary person to person. I tend to do much better in classes that I have every day as opposed to classes that only meet once or twice a week. (I'm in college) When I have a class that meets less often than daily, I tend not to spend any time or effort on it on the days I don't have i...

What kind of school has never heard of autism? Is this a US school? People with diagnoses on the spectrum usually should be eligible for accommodations through the ADA. I NEVER thought I'd want or need them, but I had a physics teacher convince me to give it a try. (If I want) I get to take my tests...

I'm a 42 year-old, second-year sophomore. I'm attending a community college and have almost completed an associates degree for transfer to an engineering program at a 4-year-school as a Junior. I was supposed to go to college after HS, but ended up doing 20 years in the US Navy instead. Um, what was...

Creative writing is pretty rough, but the one that throws up mile-high writer's blocks is writing about myself.

Evaluations, college application essays, personal statements, whatever. Hate, hate, hate them.

I'm a student at Bellevue College in Bellevue, WA. Our school has a Disability Resource Center and a dedicated Autism Spectrum Navigator. When I took a class at Cascadia Community College in Bothell, WA, I worked through the Disabled Student Services office, which was essentially the same as the DRC...

Hmmmm. I find originality impossible pretty much regardless of the topic or my interest level. I can take and modify anything, and people have argued that thats a form of originality, but to just generate something new with no or little outside input I find exceedingly difficult. If you're old enough (and 27 may be pretty close), then you could have been diagnosed before ASDs were commonly applied in your country. I'm 42, and was tested a couple times as a kid, but since I wasn't schizophrenic, sociopathic or 'idiot savant', I was written off as a weird kid. If the doctor yo...

my aspie nephew likes role playing video games. my niece likes salt water fish. my college major was biology. what's yours? Right now, I'm 'officially' undeclared, but that's just because I'm still at a community college. The program I'm in, however, has the unwieldy name of: Associates in Science,...

I couldn't get the stupid BAP test to score, but I got a 6 (of 80) on the EQ test... And I thought I might have been skewing some of my answers to be more empathetic.

No, but I have a daughter, and there's another out there that looks like me but supposedly isn't mine.
