Yes, I had to use props for children too. I wrote about it here in forum last spring actually as I was rather traumatised by the whole assessment. The next day I complained to the department as I felt using children's books and toys just wasn't appropriate and the insult I felt had the potential to ... |

100% believe we should be allowed to mate. We are humans. It's a basic human right. |

Love jokes and laugh rather easily. Often I'm the first to laugh and love the precision, tone and rhythm of a good comedian. Moreover, I think jokes are an important vehicle for sharing truths that otherwise people might find uncomfortable to swallow. |

Though I am very grateful for such sites, personally, I struggle with the names - WrongPlanet/WrongVillage. Specifically their negative reinforcement that being autistic means this planet is the wrong place. I totally understand feeling alien in this world but in my books, it is the right home for e... |

I don't think this girl commited suicide because there was no one to talk to or something because if thats the case she would've at least gone online to find someone to talk to on a site or somewhere since most people do that when they don't find someone to talk to, there are so many reasons why pe... |

And this is who my thread was intended to, she obviously was not happy, did NOT want autism and needed great sympathy. Is there not a single person on this forum who has ever felt like her? I don't agree about the sympathy. I think she needed understanding above anything. She was obviously highly c... |

I just read this article about a beautiful and bright young schoolgirl called Elspeth McKendrick who committed suicide at the tender age of 16 because she failed to come to terms with a diagnosis of mild autism. Makes me so sad. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/11521776/School-pr... |

I've been thinking about the ADOS module 4 assessment I undertook. One activity which I loathed was being provided with a sponge, paperclip, King of Spades card etc and asked to make a story out of it. I was paralysed and used the pieces in quite a literal manner. (I couldn't give them peoples names... |

I've always played a lot of sport, both individual sports (javelin/discus/shot/sprinting to regional level) and team sports including rugby union to international level. Obviously I felt really awkward when it came to the post-match socialising and where possible, quickly left after the 'woman of th... |

As soon as the bell went I headed to find a free piano in one of the practice rooms or the main assembly hall. Closed the curtains. Shut the door and composed! |

As an aside, you mention narrow interests - I've been diagnosed but I can't say my interests are narrow but I do get obsessed over the subjects I'm taken by which include philosophy, music, feminism, literature, psychology, neuroscience quantum mechanics and politics to name just a few. I guess eve... |

For the record, I have officially complained about my experience. I expected it to be aligned to male stereotypes but the extent to which is was age-inappropriate (and intellectually inappropriate) was a appalling. Hopefully they will develop a better system so future female service users and high ... |

I was diagnosed in August of 2014. I was initially referred to CAMHS for acute anxiety and when I got my first appointment my mum was given a questionnaire to fill out and so was I. I was also interviewed by a mental health nurse. A few weeks later we received a letter stating I was to be given an ... |
