This is quite a commom problem. I had similar experiences when younger. I have found it does get better as you get older. I am in my forties with greying hair and dont usually wear make up and favour practical clothing so i dont look attractive most of the time. This takes the confusion put of most ... |

Despite what you say about yourself you do not have a broken brain or a broken soul. You have a difference. No more no less. Start by showimg yourself a bit of respect and make a point of doing the things that YOU are imterested in and you like to do. You could maybe do spme voluntary things or take... |

The short answer is no. Not really. I work in health care and I have an autism diagnosis and I have learned 3 truths 1. There is no such thing as a normal person 2. Having/ not having a diagnosis of something doesn't mean the thing isn't there and doesn't change the symptoms. 3. Doctors are also jus... |

Your son is not a rapist. He's just vulnerable. This girl isnt a bad person she's just young messed up and at the mercy of her hormones. This is a very common occurance in neurological typical young people and those on the spectrum. No harm has really been done. Please forgive them both and trouble ... |

Hi Darcygirl I wrestled with wether or not to disclose but eventually I came to feel strongly that it was the right thing to do. I hate dishonesty I am a nurse and we register every 12 months so I informed the govrrning nurse council and my line manager. She said sorry to hear that like I just told ... |

I can totally relate. I am a 42 year old woman married with one eight year old Son. My diagnosis was six months ago and I went through exactly the same thing afterwards. To be honest I felt like a fraud like I had convinced them pr something. Its a bit like the grieving process and you must allow yo... |

I can totally relate to this. I am in my forties and was diagnosed quite recently and for the reasons you describe haven't come out at work or to my parents or brothers. My husband and son know and 2 of my 3 close friends but that's all. Why ?because at this point in my life I am experienced enough ... |

Here in the UK it's quite rare for the government to "help" any of its people from just about any social group minority or not. They do protect the interests of tax evading paedophiles and other high profile social preditors but thats about as good as it gets. |

I was diagnosed 2 months ago and I am 42. I only recognised I had it when my young son was diagnosed 2 years ago. It is natural to feel confused at this time. You may well have it and not have known. Personally I had always avoider any contact with health professionals so haven't been lumbered with ... |

Its not personal so don't take it personally. Some people just want to come out with offensive crap to get attention. If someone called youa chair you wouldn't be offended cos you know that you're not a chair. You also know you're not crazy. See it for what it is. People doing what people do best. T... |

I am a female and although I am not a typical female I am sure most females and males for that matter don't like being threatened with rape or charged at with a bayonet. But you know that now already. Be honest with yourself about what it is that you most want from a relationship at the moment. Mean... |

Personally I see ableism like "oughtism". We ought to do this or we ought to do that. We ought to give our child a birthday party. They ought to have scores of friends they ought to have a partner they ought to want this or that etc. Sometimes I feel parents with the best of intentions put... |

Yep its pretty fd up. There is a huge community of folk autistic and non autistic who reject the consumer society thing. Look up the moneyless man and the minimalists. Yes human beings are often cruel and this can be seen in the natural world too. You are not cruel or unkind or judgemental. Use this... |

To be honest I only go to work for a bit of peace. The money is nice and I certainly get to meet alot of crazy neurotypical people which is good because it puts my own peculiarities right into perspective...whether you have spent 23 years in nursing you realise that there really is no such thing as ... |
