Hi, My daughter who is about to turn 5 next month is almost out of control. Okay, she is out of control. She was diagnosed at 2 by TARC in Topeka and then at 3 by CCHD at KU Med in Kansas City with Autism. She was determined not to have Fragile X - they just wanted to rule it out. Anyway, her behavi... |

I feel like a terrible parent. Yesterday I think I was the one to have the melt down. I have a 4-year-old daughter, dx on two separate occasions with autism. She's bull-headed and suffers with anxiety. I've been looking at Bach Flowers Rescue Remedy and also L-Carnosine to help with the anxiety, but... |

Hi, As a parent who is wary about medicines, based on personal experience (yet, I can't function completely without them), I was wondering if any other parents have taken their child (pre-schooler) to a naturopath to find a more natural approach to medicine, with regards to anxiety? I understand man... |

Kind of on a different tangent and kind of related: I've started watching the Man in the White Castle and I keep thinking about this country (the US) and what it might be like if we keep going down this road of loss of privacy, lists of 'persons of interest' etc. |

Hubby did talk to the ADA before he was deposed (during our daughter's morning school class) and they guaranteed it wouldn't be more than a few hours one morning while our daughter was in school...and then the guy on trial plead out and he didn't have to appear. Worked out well for us. Unsure about ... |

So, for example, if she has an accident, does it bother her to be messy? If so, don't clean her up right away, wait until she's really uncomfortable (don't make it clear you're doing this as a punishment, just act too busy to respond immediately). If it doesn't bother her to be messy, or if you can... |

I know when my daughter was that age the thing that worked best was positive reinforcement. Charts with stars and rewards, etc. (She was dxd at 4 1/2 with AS, but is now a teenager). We never had potty training issues, but daughter was strong willed and had a mind of her own and so there was a lot ... |

There is a lot going on here, so I probably won't cover everything in this iteration. Some kids respond well to traditional discipline and some don't. My child doesn't. We scrapped it pretty quickly, though both my husband and I were raised in more traditionally authoritarian homes. For more standa... |

I'm not really sure where to post this. I could have put it under parenting, but then it is not about an AS child. So I hope someone can give me some advice. Yesterday I took my 12 year old daughter out for the day as I wanted to spend some time with her as her behaviour lately has become very unus... |

Hi Mums, Dads and caregivers, As I write this, seeking advice, or looking for options, I am already reminded that no matter what your kid is diagnosed with, they're still an individual. A newly turned 4-year-old is a little more independent than a 2-year-old. Okay, so my daughter just turned 4. She'... |

The results are normal, so we can rule that out. That's a good thing. Whether it was going to be abnormal or normal was essentially irrelevant to me at the time. It wouldn't have been worse or better, if that makes sense. We just wanted to confirm or dismiss the possibility and adapt learning and va... |

My husband has been issued a subpoena to appear in court as a witness and I'm the worker and we have no babysitter for our AS toddler. Has anyone been in this situation? He may be in court for 3 days. I can't afford to miss work. Any suggestions? |

Thanks for your replies guys. I had written a post but it vanished after I typed in a verification code. StarTrekker, thanks for clarifying stim. Marcb0t, thanks for your insight into the pubescent years. I started getting seizures at the age of 8. Just one, but nobody noticed. Figured it out the fo... |

I was wondering about the Tourettes, but I don't think so - at this stage anyway. No, she's not good at expressing herself. She typically parrots a lot of stuff (I guess a lot of kids can do this at this age regardless of being on the spectrum or not). She attends a special ed class in the mornings ... |

Hi, I'm a parent and thought rather than posting in the parents' forum, I'd post in the general for a change. My daughter is almost 4 and recently, we've noticed she's started twitching, or developed a tic. I read a little bit before around the web before deciding to post. The twitch, or tic, is a j... |
