I know I have not been here for a while, but about two years ago, I cured myself ... sort of. What I am NOT going to do is explain how to cure yourself. Part of the reason is that you need to really understand what is going on in your brain in order to cure yourself. Part is that I am unsure if curi... |

I am also. Apparently it is common with Aspies. Whilst we have the same antibody condition as others such as Coeliacs - it is not a full allergy but just sensitivity. Of interest, they have found a correlation between coeliac and carpal tunnel. No explanation, merely a correlation. I suspect that ca... |

I am sorry it has been a while - but I have been changing because of this vid. It is ... painful, slow, long term and it is not over yet. This path to recovery was so ... debilitating that I was forced into "survival mode" including cutting myself off from everyone. None the less, I have f... |

I am a "one trick wonder" as I applied biofeedback to the body and the mind. In order to "relearn" you have to do "something different. Think about "I was injured in the arm." You want to drink a cup of tea so you pick it up and raise it to your mouth. Unfortunatel... |

On a personal level - the only advantage I can find (internal) to getting out of Aspie mode was that I could actually talk to my father. He is Aspie also. This allowed me to bridge the gap. Getting out of the HYPER (which is not aspie but is quite common) had a more positive effect on my life - agai... |

Where am I on the spectrum? No idea now. I used to be Asperger's with hypersensitivity to sound - and mild hypersensitivity to movement. I remain aspie - by choice and design. Without the enforced tunnel vision - without the hypersensitivity to sound - and still with very mild hypersensitivity to si... |

In every case that I have seen discussed where someone who was once diagnosed with an ASD now has subclinical symptoms, they still have symptoms. They are just re-categorized from ASD to the broader autistic phenotype. It's fine for you to use whatever models you find helpful, but simply wrong to s... |

None of these systems are simple, the interactions between these systems are not simple and so it seems very unlikely that simplistic explanations of how those interactions produce effects (e.g., it's all genetic, it's all the gut microbiome, it's all environment, etc.) are going to be correct or h... |

Why are identical twins not identical? Don't know. Nobody does. This is not a cop out - the entire process of changing from sperm and egg into a human is so fraught with variables along the way that we can only find some and comment on them. We will miss others. The first is that there is the geneti... |

I have tracked down the TED talk which sparked the rest. http://www.ted.com/talks/wendy_chung_autism_what_we_know_and_what_we_don_t_know_yet/transcript?language=en It is where the 77% figure came from. There was a follow up discussion on the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) about... |

I always thought it was genetic. There's an awful lot of parents on the spectrum here who have one or more kids that are somewhere on the spectrum too. Some have three kids on the spectrum. I don't think that's a coincidence. That's enough proof for me that Autism must be passed down through genes.... |

Why is it not genetic? If you have a genetic condition - then if you have the gene - you have the condition. But in this case - if you have the gene - you might or might not have the condition. Again - if it is something like a cancer - then it is specific to the way the body responds to cancer. ASD... |

I think I prefer the original medical theory that the brain is not a computer. it was a marvellous theory - and almost everything that was postulated has now been accepted as fact. But there was an area of the theory which - though in some ways accepted - has been utterly ignored. It was how the bra... |

The question that comes into my mind was actually very different. if there are identical twins - and one has ASD and the other has not - what problems does the NT twin have? Almost identical hardware .... Instead of looking at the ASD - look at the other. Nobody seems to have done this. It gets wors... |

Have you ever looked into Alexander technique? I have chronic back problems so I had been trying to sort out if postural issues were making things worse. The tactics in Alexander technique may prove useful if you are trying to sort out posture issues. My techniques is very similar to that one. It w... |

They have proved positively and absolutely that genetics is not the cause of ASD. They have also proved absolutely and positively that it is not environment. They have also proved absolutely and positively that whilst genetics does not cause ASD - it is very influential. All of this by the study of ... |
