There are more programs like that than people think. I met someone who was raped in a mental hospital

To respond to your post CateJayne: 1. I referred to the code of conduct because others broke it when I wrote controversial stuff 2. I asked K Kelly about her mental illness because like I described before, if I have an ACCURATE mental health diagnosis then I'd understand strengths that can be turned...

I don't 100% agree with you CateJayne. If someone were to have an ACCURATE mental health diagnosis, I feel this alone could CORRECTLY determine which job someone would be good at/enjoy. But very few people with ASD are properly diagnoed where the label docs give is basically meaningless. I am an ent...

Aspartofme: Ok I just saw that. The actual 990 document itself conflicts with the info found on Guide Star itself. The actual 990 document I think reads that ASAN got about $350k a year in donations. Don't trust me. My reading comprehension is about 6th-8th grade. Never went to college because I can...

I don't know but have guesses. From being an entrepreneur for 10yrs, I'm pretty good at reading infrastructure (and funding is part of it) Important: These are guesses not facts Main ones: 1. The ARC 2. P&A groups 3. Maybe other adult transition services Side ones: 1. Memberships 2. Annual Fundr...

Your welcome. I can definitely relate to most of what your saying. The only difference is that you seem introverted/quiet whereas I am more outgoing/extroverted. Don't think you'd like hanging out with me because I'd be too intense and talkative for you. I definitely don't think I'm your next husban...

I support 75% or so of what ASAN advocates for. Do not really like the staff. They have ignored my emails as well. Lydia Brown, one ASAN worker, unfriended me ignored a lot of my Facebook chats. I think they make up maybe 10% of ASD as a whole and try to advocate for stuff that would help their piec...

Don't think you'd do well with most trade jobs (like electrician, plumber, etc) wrong skillsets for you. Maybe I'm wrong. If I were you, I would do one of these things: 1. screw education all together (including trade school) and look into starting your own private practice somewhere. You need a str...

I can definitely without question relate to all the posters. I LOVE to be alone sometimes. One of my long term goals is to further segregate myself from society voluntarily. To respond to JenniferJones, would say the following: Don't think it's black and white. I have met 50+ individuals with ASD. S...

To respond: Jaden: My opinion involves the heavy use of blanket statements on ASD. I am challenging the views to individualize treatment for ASD. I greatly apologize for offending you but part of my opinion and beliefs about ASD challenges the use of "individualized treatment" as well as t...

Hey Jaden, I am ok with you disagreeing with me and my views but just like with CharityGoodyGrace, I viewed your post as a personal attack on me. My very first post to this article clearly stated I am NOT in support of a class action lawsuit. I was commenting on the last post where a user was intere...

Hi SocOfAutism, I think in terms of legality, it would be possible something like your describing could happen in the U.S. However, a couple points: ---I am not interested in government funded treatment nor do many people with ASD I have met (I met 50+ people with ASD). If this lawsuit were to occur...

I am a person with ASD and an entrepreneur who runs a legit nonprofit. Look me up (Avi Satlow). I am all for people with ASD having their voices heard and shutting down Autism Speaks which is why I wrote what I said. CharityGoodyGrace, I just reported you for a personal attack on me making two false...

Yes agreed. Cops and jails profit when autistic people are incarcerated. I am an entrepreneur and run a nonprofit called AviCares right now. Some people see those with ASD as nothing more than a dollar bill. Jails charge a fee to inmates for room and board, fees for transferring money, buying jail c...
