I work in the software industry (aka IT). I imagine a lot of software people are on the spectrum, especially where I live (near Silicon Valley). By the way, I can't see how a diagnosis would endanger future employment prospects. The only thing that will endanger future employment prospects is simpl...

I have noticed that for people with Asperger's syndrome (or at least me and I'm assuming others have noticed this too), relationships tend to be extremely one sided. I believe this is one reason it is so hard to develop and maintain friendships for a person with AS. I am not referring to the tenden...

I've seen this happen to a dozen or so Aspies over the years, and it upsets me each time. Often times, I wonder whether or not the NT's are just trying to get Aspies to quit without having to file all the paperwork it takes to legally fire someone.

I don't know how many others feel this way, but...for me the first time someone shows me they're interested in one (or more) of my "special interests", I have to resist the urge to instantly move that person right to the top of my "must have as a friend" list. I've gotten burned ...

Prices will vary, depending on where you live and the availability of doctors/ specialists etc. Where I went, they had a sliding scale for low-income individuals. My fiance provides for us and I just have my income a student so they went off of my income and it was maybe $240 total? Maybe check out...

I am SOOO aware of manipulation and subtle negativity from other NTs. I'm able to keep up with them, but it's really unpleasant for me, so I elect not to. A mentor of mine once said that the longer you study sociology and social interactions, the worse you are at behaving "normal." I comp...

Thank you for responding! :D Here in Kentucky, all I've found for requirements is that if I do have an official diagnosis, I must disclose it....and unless it prevents me from being able to do any part of my job, I'm not required to seek a diagnosis...so it seems to be all subjective at this point. ...

I've had to force myself to learn how to "get by" socially with my coworkers & supervisors over the years. I learned early on that I had a knack for quickly learning any new technology and marketed myself as an "I.T. Jack-of-All-Trades" Within a month on any job, I found myse...

I met my wife while on IMVU.com , strangely enough. I originally went there to post my poetry which my 1st wife hated & wrote off as "that mushy crap", and my current wife saw my poetry, liked it and sought me out. It took a long time for me to begin to believe her; but after building ...

I'm new to the forum, and I'm unsure whether to pursue a diagnosis or not. A little background: Over Christmas, my wife tells me she thinks she's discovered an explanation for my quirks and asked me to consider taking one of the online AQ tests as a starting point. Being thorough, I took every onlin...
