I started thinking about this one behavior I have and it led to thinking about other traits I'm wondering others would consider to be part of AS, or possibly something like OCPD. When I hear someone speak a fact that I know is incorrect, I need to correct them. Out loud. It could be in casual one on...

OP, I completely relate to this. My entire life has been a series of just wanting/having one friend at a time - I seem to be incapable of being attached to more than one person at a time. No one else is important if I have one friend I really like. Why would I need any other friends when I have this...

Your internal conflict theory makes sense to me. I have ASD (Asperger's) and ADHD (inattentive) as well and I've definitely experienced similar, almost paradoxical behavior patterns throughout my life. For example, I'll get obsessively interested on a very specific interest, it's all I can focus/hyp...

OP, so glad you posted this. I was just thinking about the same and can relate deeply to what you said about having no desire or longing for friendships. (It's remarkable to have a need for connection over...well, a lack of connection, but there it is!) It makes me deeply uncomfortable when people c...

www(.)scientificamerican(.)com/article/enhanced-visual-attention-may-be-early-predictor-of-autism/ Read this and wondered how this characteristic intense attention to detail - more specifically, the types of details that stand out - affects others. Do you view it as a strength, impairment, both, or ...

Thanks for your thoughts. My question now is, if this is really a "normal" NT thing, why do they place so much value on it, if everyone knows everyone's motives are selfish? I think I don't understand why people would pretend others are being altruistic if they know they're just doing it b...

Not sure if anyone else experiences this, or if it's even an Asperger's thing or not, I'm interested to see if anyone else can relate: I've realized that often (if not most or even all the times) when I do something nice for someone, it's not exactly with the intent of making them happy. It's hard t...
