Hello all,

I have an unwanted obsession at the moment about a song that I disagree with. The tune sounds good, but I disagree with the lyrics.

What do people here do about unwanted obsessions? Is there anything to be done?

Any thoughts?

I am a care-dependent adult. I am very dependent on my mother. However, I am often told by people how smart I am, and how, because of that, I can do anything. I find this very annoying, mainly because there is more to being successful that just having books smarts. I am a good writer, as people say,...

I have heard this term a while back. Apparently, many autistics don't tell other people they are autistic. But, some people are more open about it. I myself am quite open about my autism (my username here is my real first name and last initial). I have written papers about it in one of my college wr...

I have had an intense interest in laws for a long time. I love the law, even though I disagree with some laws. I think the law is very interesting, and so I aim to abide by the law to the letter of the law, even when it is inconvenient for me. Why? Because the law is the law, and if I don't like it,...

I am a bit of an individualist. I prefer to do things differently than everyone else. What if people judge me? That's their problem. I don't care what people think. I am unique, and I am a bit weird. I kind of like being considered weird and different. Who else doesn't care what people think of them...

Yeah, I think it would be nice to have a close friend. However, right now, I consider my mom my best friend. But I prefer to keep people at arms length. But, come to think of it, I'd rather have one good friend than 50 mediocre friends. But, I prefer most people to not interact with me. If it is an ...

I have a question. Do you want friends who you can talk to and be close with? Or, are you socially satisfied with people waving to you and having acquaintances? I have found myself happy just having acquaintances, except for my parents and family, who I like being close to. It is nice when someone j...

I am a young adult. I suddenly have choices, and can make my own choices. However, this is scary. Making my own choices can indeed be very scary for me. I live with my mother, and I am lucky to have her. She is an autistic support teacher, and so she has quite a bit understanding of autism, to say t...

I am at college currently. Many times, people from my high school greet me, and wave to me. It is all great, but there is one aspect to this. I don't want friends. If I want a friend, I can go on the internet. I just have very little interest in making friends in real life. I just want to be alone, ...

I am currently going through a transition in my life. I am 19, and in college. I am not doing so well, and I am afraid if something doesn't give fast I might end up in jail, out of stealing out of despair. What are my options? Group homes, which I think is the most comforting of options. I would be ...

I am autistic, of course. I have trouble in many areas, the biggest being independence skills. Also, I am openly autistic. I tell people I am autistic. I told a whole college class my diagnosis. How did people receive me? I was received well, and continue to be received well the vast majority of tim...

I would love never to have to physically restrain a child--but that's inevitable, especially when the child is under preschool age. They just don't know what is safe and what is unsafe. This I would agree with, as long as you are not taking it any further than a simple restraint. As a toddler, I wa...

I always wonder what people think about laws which abolish corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is actually illegal in all of Scandinavia, much of Europe, and much of South America. I favor such laws. I think such laws should be in place not to tell parents how horrible they are at parenting, bu...

Hello there. I'm MaxwellS. I am new to WP. I am 18, and was diagnosed as a child as Asperger's. Over the years, what was more damaging to my life was the childhood bipolar disorder. I was put on medicine for that, and it dramatically changed my life, and even helped with some symptoms of ASD. I am a...

Hello. I am new here, by the way. I am 18. I live with my mother. She is a wonderful mother, and a person who I am very close with. But, maybe a bit too close? I prefer to have her in my line of sight at all times, unless I know where she is. When she isn't, I start to worry about her. When she does...
