@PorridgeGuy When you have "completed" it, how about moving on to a related subject? Would you be motivated for that? If so you could build upon what you've already learned. Yeah that's probably a very wise idea. I all ready have an engineering degree (though not a very good one - MH prob...

@PorridgeGuy I've never really been one for setting goals, though I know I should. I am methodical about learning new things, and once I get into my head that I know enough about a subject, it's like I've "completed it" then I just move on. @BeaArthur Logic is my only real strength I woul...

It can be quite overwhelming when you start looking into all there is to know about a topic at once, it sometimes demotivates me too. When learning something, I try to first figure out what I want to learn. Then I find a source of knowledge I like (i.e. a specific book), and finally I can focus only...

No. Because (1) I'm not sure I have it and I'm not diagnosed and (2) even if I did, I'd rather keep it to myself. I do believe autistics being open about their diagnosis is good for public awareness, I just would not be comfortable exposing myself like that. Finally, (3) I'm not sure how people woul...

I think for many people there is an idea that theres a set way to live, such as your supposed to grow up, learn to drive, work, get married and have children. I disagree with that. I dont want or need to drive right now, i probably wont get married and i dont want children. If people have such idea...

If I stuttered and avoided eye contact with my dad, he would accuse me of lying, and I'd feel the back of his hand across my face (I think it's called "B***h-Slapping"?). If I looked him in the eye and calmly explained everything, my dad would accuse me of lying, and I'd feel the back of ...

What you experience, mirroring the physical pain felt by others, I believe is normal. I also don't think that contradicts, nor is atypical, for Asperger's. You see someone get a papercut, you know that may hurt (physically) and react accordingly. I think AS is more likely to make it difficult unders...

if you take one single online MBTI test and assume it's correct because the short description somewhat sounds like you, then it might be wrong since online MBTI tests do not always give someone's accurate MBTI type. Frankly I don't think any MB test is accurate since the whole MBTI theory is questi...

Being good in mental arithmetics is not a prerequisite for being good at math. Math is about so much more than that. In fact, I'd say it's more about abstract concepts than the numbers itselves. I know many good mathematicians and scientists which are just average or even poor in mental arithmetics....

Again a term where we need to be critical. As pointed out earlier, I think most people have been annoyed for instance by the chewing of others. Thus either that cannot be attributed to misophonia, or misophonia must be a name for something common. The Wikipedia article says it's a "rarely diagn...

I'm not a therapist and don't know how you should handle this. But I don't think you have to worry that this post will make you unpopular. I used to have trouble with agression (or maybe meltdowns?) as a toddler. Being angry doesn't make you a bad person.

Often theories make generalizations to be able to make categories like this at all. Sometimes these theories may prove useful, other times the generalizations are just too far off. I don't know how well others fall into the categories proposed by Grandin, but for myself, the pattern thinker is spot ...

Do you ever not hear something someone said, ask them to repeat it, but then straight after, you realise what they said? Like, when you first hear it it just sounds like a constant monotonous voice with no recognisable words, but by the time you've asked them to repeat it, it all makes sense and yo...

Although I hate to admit it your boyfriend sounds kind of like me. I too often don't take my girlfriend's hint almost until she gets mad at me. I don't mean to override her, I just don't get it sooner. I have great respect for her, and as soon as I understand, I will stop overriding her. When she st...

There was an aspie-related online test for this somewhere. Don't remember what it's called.

Would that be this test? http://tfis.blogspot.com/
It's also on the Aspietests site: http://aspietests.org/

Yes, this is it :-)
