I'm sorry if this post is a little bit confusing, but it needs some background context for you guys to understand the situation I'm in. First of all, just a reminder that I've been described as "fringe autistic" because the impacts on my social skills are minimal and I'm pretty good at cov... |

I'm not 100% sure how accurate this is. My IQ is somewhere in the 135-140 range, and while I can't stand most people, there's a certain kind of person that I just can't get enough of and which is hard to explain. Many (but not all) of these people are neurodivergent, and most (but not all) are awkwa... |

I'd advise against dwelling too much on the past. Self-blame is rarely useful in life. You can't change the past, and you can't undo the things you might feel bad about, but you can use those experiences to learn and grow as a person. I'd suggest focusing more on your future than on your past, and u... |

First of all, a bit of personal history: I've always had multiple self-esteem problems, including body image issues which started up when I started getting some very brutal flak from around 5th grade for being a chubby kid. I lost most of that chubbiness just by growing out of it, but more recently ... |

Two really stick out for me: 1. A weird prank device that my aunt and uncle gave me for Christmas back in 2005. It was supposed to be a sort of sticky rubber clamp shaped kind of like a headcrab from the Half-Life series (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/54/Headcrab.jpg). Apparently you w... |

I'm working on a post for my blog in which I'm taking apart and analyzing some Autism Speaks video and talking about the problems I have with them. I'm going through the "Autism Every Day" video right now, and most of it is mainly about "these poor parents", and easy to take apar... |

I've mentioned several times that I have and have bred poison dart frogs. I thought I'd share some images here of the frogs that I have, and have had in the past. Poison dart frogs are not poisonous in captivity since they don't make their poison themselves - they "manufacture" it from the... |

I think your parents are good parents who were not very tactful, then realized it, and apologized. It would not be easier to be "low-functioning." You have lots of brains, and will succeed. I guess so, and I'm not so much holding a grudge against my parents as I am just feeling hurt by wh... |

Hey everyone. I have an issue that I'm too embarrassed to talk about with my friends and too anxious to talk about with other members of my family, so I thought I'd reach out to you guys. This afternoon I was thinking about some of the things Autism Speaks have been saying and doing, Toni Braxton sa... |

Recently, because of severe panic attacks and recently diagnosed OCD, my doctor instructed me to transfer from Cipralex to Zoloft. Over the last few weeks I've had a pretty rough time, with both physical and mental withdrawal symptoms from the Cipralex. Physically I've been having numbness and elect... |

Around 28 hours. It was June 2011 and my parents had to leave in the middle of the night to take my grandmother to the hospital because she thought she was having a heart attack (she wasn't, and she's still alive and very healthy and physically active) and her husband was out of town. I was too anxi... |

I've never had a time where I've had absolutely no friends, but from 2010 to 2013 I only had one real friend. I'm better off now (most of my friends are also on the spectrum, I only have 2 NT friends). |

Social anxiety is the reason I'm so quiet. Almost everyone I do talk to likes me. But I'm always terrified as coming off as an idiot, making some stupid mistake or doing something contextually inappropriate without meaning to, so I don't talk to many people. |
