I've gotten so bored with playing that stupid game with people for so many years that I just let them go on thinking I'm being a jerk. I used to tap dance all over myself trying to explain my thought process but it just doesn't work. The one exception that I make is with the wife, since I just want ... |

The only MMOs I haven't played are the ones that haven't been released. I'm a junkie for them, it's pretty sad. Oddly enough, I can't ever reach the endgame. Alt fever, I suppose. Right now I'm not playing any because my wife is a school teacher and, therefore, is about to stop getting paid her norm... |

Right around 1990. I had played around on the local BBSs with my blazing 9600 baud modem after upgrading from the 1200 baud acoustic coupler for my Atari 800XL when a guy at scholl hooked me up with an account on the local university server where he was a MUD admin. Usenet and email with a side of G... |

Anna's right about many being "mutual admiration societies." Don't sweat it too much. If you believe that you aren't acting like an ass and are making an effort not to sound that way but people still treat you as though you are then let it go and move on to something else. An abrasive tone is much e... |

Pure crap, but for some bizarre reason people look up to me anyway so I do OK. You want the easy trick to getting by in a team or leadership role? Just ask questions. Not big life-changing, thought-provoking questions, just detail gathering questions. You have to be careful not to ask questions that... |

I, too, live in Orlando but I hate the bloody places. Except Sea World, which is one of the coolest places on Earth, and Universal's Islands of Adventure, which is just flat-out awesome. Unfortunately I can only take them in small doses because all of the people around annoy me to the point of not b... |

For me it is mostly accidental, but I typically give them the rudeness when they start reading into it anyway. It's like being accused of sleeping with another woman when you did no such thing; if you have to put up with all of the crap anyway, you may as well get something out of it. ;) So don't wo... |

I haven't talked to anyone in my faily outside of my wife and daughter for over five months. I did try calling my mom and sisters on Mothers Day but all of them had changed their numbers. Not that we don't get along, mind you; it's not like we fight or something and so they changed their numbers to ... |

Strangely enough, I get along great with kids. I just can't stand to be around them. Except for mine, of course. ;) Although the non-stop running monologue she's got going sometimes pushes it. :) I do like how kids tend to talk straight about most things so as long as you can beat down all of the pr... |

I've come to assume that whatever I am saying may be construed as rude. It has gotten to the point where I am intentionally rude in some situation just because I don't see the point in trying to play the smiling clown just to make other people feel better. Screw 'em. If they can't learn to accept yo... |

I'd love to go to some sort of AS meet just to see if hanging out with aspies is any easier than trying to be sociable with everyone else but I doubt I could bring myself to go. Hell, I can't even make any of the get-togethers that the guys at work are always trying to get me to go to, and I've know... |

Stare back with a neutral expression. No, really, I know how much it sucks to look someone in the eye; it makes my stomach a bit gnarly when I do it. But damned if it doesn't seem to get the point across. Of course, I'm about 6', 220lbs and uglier than a rotted stump so your mileage may vary, but yo... |

Hell no! Any gratification that might be gained from being able to empathize and relate to others gets blown away by the sheer annoyance factor of it all. I have absolutely no desire to be like that. I want to see a therapist for some behavioral training so that I can act more natural around other p... |

I dislike people until I get to know them. Then I typically despise them. :) Seriously, I'm just not a big fan of people, even if they are decent folk. Conversation is just a painful process most of the time. Even with my wife, I find myself wanting to hit the fast-forward button all of the time. Ho... |
