I do not understand this term "sexually compatible." What are you trying to find out? In my view, couples *become* sexually compatible. Sex gets better with time and practice. What matters is NOT whether a couple starts out right, but if a couple communicates and learns and takes time to ...

These are expensive costs. You missed the point completely. My point was that no matter how much transitioning might cost, the expense is irrelevant in the face of the cost of things like therapy and support for autistic kids and adults being much higher. The article states: "In Pennsylvania, ...

The thing about ISIL is that it isn't a nationality or something, it's an ideology. We could put a mile-high wall around every border and coastline in Europe, and stop all flights, and they'd still get in. The US could do the same thing and they'd still get in. ISIL will not come to the West by wal...

The second post is basically, "Temple Grandin should shut up", which implies a strong disagreement with the idea of pushing at all. No it doesn't, not sure where you're getting that? In fact, the poster was careful to follow up her assertions by basically saying Grandin tends to think wha...

Hmmm. I notice you've cut out pieces of what I stated in my post, particularly the parts indicating that this did not apply to every person/situation. You did leave in the "for some of us" near the end, but you don't seem to be noticing it. It's not that I don't notice them. It's that to ...

You believe you've brought him out of his autistic shell or what-not by taking him places, No, I don't. What "brought him out of his shell" was therapy. Taking him places only gave him more numerous and more varied experiences of the world out there, and thus more chances to figure out wh...

I don't understand why it seems to be coming down to either pushing or not pushing, in many of the above comments. I don't think that's what we're suggesting. It doesn't have to be either doing nothing and letting the autism reign absolute in the kid's and his family's life, or forcing the kid to p...

I don't understand why it seems to be coming down to either pushing or not pushing, in many of the above comments. What about pushing a little but consistently every day, in ways tailored to the specific kid, and while allowing for plenty of rest? It doesn't have to be either doing nothing and letti...

Laughter is the main weapon bullies use. Yeah, there's violence and verbal abuse, but it's all backed by laughter to make it 100 times more hurtful. Outlawing it would reduce the power of bullying by 99%. And that would be tremendously beneficial to aspies. All aspies, not just me. That's as far fr...

As for outlawing laughter: have you never laughed?? The good, wholesome, not-bullying-related kind of laughter? If you have, how can you want to outlaw something so wonderful 8O ? I have, but it's pretty rare. More often than not, I force myself to laugh when NT social rules dictate doing so (so pe...

I'm guessing you're a guy, right? Then you will never be called a slut either. You will never be told that "you're fun to sleep with but you're not the type of girl I want to marry". You will never be date-raped and then told that, "Everyone knows you're easy anyway." You will ne...

I waited for religious reasons. I bitterly regret it. I thought all those talks of "sexual compatibility" I was getting from my sexually active friends were just baloney, but it turned out there's quite a lot of truth to them.

Why should we be ashamed? Because someone reading the thread for the first time might easily assume that people on the spectrum have forgotten that we too were historically told that it was a choice, that we were lazy, that we weren't trying hard enough to fit in. You don't say :| Let's play a game...

This thread is making me laugh  Seriously? People dictating how often other people should bathe and brush their teeth?? That's hilarious  For the record: unless it's really hot and I'm sweating like mad, I will NOT shower more often than every other day, because it would needlessly irr...

When sober or even drunk, they were respectful to me for the most part. They'd make an occasional annoying joke or two, but nothing to really get a rise out of me, and they'd almost always stop when I asked them to. You say it yourself: they were dicks who just didn't dare show their full dickishne...
