Well, it could be the case that we develop them in order to cope with life. Especially if we have difficulty with socializing. When I was young, I played video games with most of my free time. I would spend most of the day on a console or computer if given the chance. Maybe this isn't uncommon anymo...

Yes, especially when I was young. These days I might talk to myself in the car since it's really the only place that there's no chance of being overheard. I figure that if other drivers see my mouth moving when there's no one else in the vehicle, they will just assume that I'm on a call. I don't kno...

I can only speak for myself here, but I don't think I'd use the term "impress" when talking about doing what it takes to get by in neurotypical society. I'd consider that more a matter of survival. Going back to the original quote, I think Silberman was getting at the concept of "kis...

I do but I'm definitely no expert. I was thinking too hard on what name to register and I figured a quasar is fitting in that it's distant, distinctive in feature which is how I often feel in relation to others around me.

Even though Aspergers was known in the 1940s. Asperger's syndrome was not recognized as a unique disorder until much later. If psych doctors and therapists started treated the symptoms of Aspergers, let say in the 1960s with medication and therapy, generations would have been spared. There are no m...

I'd like to think that I'm not trying to impress anyone but the truth is that I often catch myself doing so. Just being honest. I don't think there is a way to completely dismiss the desire to impress others (particularly NTs that have power) unless you live in the wilderness or something. There is ...

I see nothing wrong with some of your points. I prefer to be alone. I find people annoying sometimes. Everyone has routines in their lives. With your depression though you may want to seek treatment for that. That can turn into really bad things, like suicide as you mentioned. I have the same probl...

Hello, I'd like to share a little bit about myself with the hopes that I can get some feedback. I've reached a point in my life where I'm considering the possibility that I may have undiagnosed Asperger's (or what used to be called, anyways). I will be 30 this month. Since childhood, I've had experi...
