I was 13 or 14. My mom was trying to teach me how to play tennis. I guess I got frustrated because I started crying. Then I threw the racket at her (missed) and ran off from the tennis court. My mom found me about half a mile away, sitting in some grass and crying. Now that I think about it, it was ...

I’m very sensitive to upcoming rain. I get headaches. An old injury in my foot and wrist start tingling. My back also often hurts. I also sometimes get the feeling that the ground is somewhat spinning, which can make me dizzy. I once read that upcoming rain comes with changes barometric pressure, wh...

So I probably miss all kinds of signals from driver's gestures and faces, but I have gotten reasonably good at knowing what will happen from watching how the cars move. How long did it take you to get "reasonably good"? It's been almost two years since I got my license, but I don't drive ...

This might be weird, but bear with me. My mother sometimes sits beside me when I drive. When we go to an intersection with other cars, she often says stuff like, “That means they’re letting you go.” or “Stop. They want to go first.” Most of the time, the other drivers didn’t wave or blink a light or...

The Irony of Fate (Ирония судьбы) both 1 and 2

No. 1 was funny. I think it was, at least partly, a commentary on the uniformity of life in the Soviet Union
No. 2 was just bad. I think people only watched it for nostalgia 30 years later

Last semester I took Calculus 2. On the first day, the professor straight up told us this was the hardest course in the calculus sequence, and he was a merciless grader.

I got a good grade in the end, but the class was hell.

I started watching House and have seen some people say he has Aspergers. He’s not normal, but I don’t think he has AS. He’s amazing at picking up social cues and manipulating people. He has a great range of facial expressions and tone of voice. More importantly, he knows how to use them and how it a...

I forgot to mention one is blind and the other is losing cognitive functions. Nobody is telling me what they plan to do. But even if it’s not every second of the day, I think it will be pretty often.

I’m living in college right now. When I go home, I need to discuss something privately with my mother. However, my grandparents will stay in our house for the next 6 months 8O and I cannot wait 6 months. My mother is always with my grandparents because they don’t know English or how to use any techn...

The only auto-immune condition I can think of which seems to be common in autistic people is EDS (Ehlors-Danlos Syndrome). Again, I don't know of it being connected to allergies. EDS is not autoimmune. It is a genetic connective tissue disorder, but lots of people with EDS seem to have autoimmune d...

UPDATE I helped two people in my Bio class study for an exam. I suppose you could say they are quirky. I don’t see them every day, but when I do, I just ask if I can join them in whatever they’re doing, like having dinner. I went grocery shopping with them a few times and one invited me to her dorm...

Hypersensitivity. Sensory sensitivity, yes. Especially to sounds, smells, and lights. Impaired Immunity. When I was little, I got sick a lot, but now I hardly ever get sick. Gastrointestinal. Don’t know if this is an “issue”, but I get full very quickly, so I can’t eat that much. Sometimes it’s like...

Actually, autism IS linked to low muscle tone. Certainly, not all autistics, but enough people have both to form a pattern. Low muscle tone can be one of the causes behind clumsiness in people with autism or Aspergers. It's getting late where I am, but I think in Hans Asperger's paper, some of his b...

I had a bizarre experience today. A person I know well told me she was jealous of my autism. When I asked her why, she said it made me and another person we know (an aspie) special. She said that she was jealous cause she didn’t feel she was special in any way. Is there any chance that she had some...
