I had such a good first day of the semester at university today, but I am waaaaay overstimulated and over-caffeinated, so I decided to plan things out for the next couple of days rather than do homework. I'm pretty impressed withe my super-simple planning chart, which is on normal sized paper so I c...

I grew up with my dad listening to Ibrahim Ferrer/ Beunavista Social Club and other Afro-Cuban Jazz, or music in whichever language he was learning at he time (languages are one of his special interests). Right now it's Gujarati music because my brother married a woman whose parents are from India a...

Leaving for an early morning train ride in a few hours... just remembered I have a ton of ear-plugs from the student disability services at my university. Score. :D

Christmas is waaaay stressful for me, even when I was a kid. I can barely leave the house without having sensory overload; stores (and MALLS) are the worst. I'm thankful for online shopping. My fiance has been so helpful this year- I haven't answered the phone in a couple weeks, which has really hel...

Rockymtchris: that's bomb! And yeah, the one-on-one thing really seals the deal for me. Cool costume. Lucha Libre is fun; my fiance at one point in his life did a lot of "back yard" wrestling, and we watched the local indy wrestling circuit in our hometown before we moved. Earthling: That'...

I just wanted to jump in to offer support, even if it doesn't help much :/ My mom, who was diagnosed with ADHD after I was, and my dad, who is probably un-diagnosed with ASD, always had a hard time fitting in themselves when it comes to clothes, and never gave me much direction or criticism either w...

I think that what's being missed most by discussions like this is that violence in the Middle East is only superficially religious- that is, sectarian violence only became such a huge issue after WWI when the west divided up the Ottoman empire to suit the needs of France, Britain, the United States ...

I don't think Penn Jillette, or anyone else for that matter, gets everything right all of the time. I do think this video about how Americans, and other people, think of the word "Christian" has a lot to do with how we think of the word "Muslim". I mean, who are we talking about?...

Don't judge yourself for not getting her diagnosed early, if that's what is going on. My mom basically said she felt guilty for not noticing after I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, and then again now that I'm 25 and getting screened in February for ASD. She and my dad were always extremely suppor...

I recently started Boxing (about 5 months ago). Classes are twice a week; most weeks I go both days, some weeks not at all if I get too busy, but I never feel the pressure to drop out completely if I miss a few days, because no one else does and the gym mentality seems to be "we all have busy l...

I love riding my bike for transportation and leisure. I ride an average of 20 minutes every day when school is in session. I'm currently living in northern Minnesota, and I quickly discovered that I would rather ride my bike in the snow than take up time defrosting and scraping my car in the morning...

Most of my life I've had a model of two "best friends" at a time, and then a circle of people who I considered friends because I got used to them being around with one or both of my "best friends". Of course, there were also times in my life when I had no friends. Now my best fri...

Hi, I am going by "pill" because it was an endearing phrase my Granny used when I was being unruly or difficult as a kid, but not actually bad; that is, "You're a pill", followed by a hug and a laugh. I am 25 years old, and I have had an ADHD diagnosis for a year now, and I am se...
