It might depend where you are. I am still halfway through diagnosis and have waited seven months so far for the second part. No effort is being put into taking care of my case at the minute because I am an adult and the kids are more important than the adults, so, we are put on the reserve list and ... |

Yep I am hearing you. I am still waiting the for the end of my formal diagnosis process and was also diagnosed as an adult and have also got the missed experiences as a child. I have pretty OK social skills and abilities (all things considered), but I still missed out on experiences etc. I worry a l... |

Mine is pretty nice I used to get compliments on it as a kid in school because I learned to read and write faster than my peers, but I sucked at maths. |

Well done on you! :) I have never seen AS an excuse for things, but rather as an explanation for why things might not always be the same for as for NT peers. But, I have done well in my life even so, considering there were many extra obstacles besides AS in my life and I was late with getting awaren... |

Yep same here! I am Scrooge, to some extent (not always).
I do spend money if it's necessary (both on things I need and what I do not need), but I tend to prefer not to spend money if I do not really, really have to. |

Both my father and I have Aspergers (he is unaware, but I am aware of his AS stuff, and my own as well). I grew up in a time when diagnosis was not available for anybody (we were just the "shy, oddball, weird kids" in the 1980s). My dad did not have a diagnosis (and still does not, he is 7... |

PS I was feeling this brain-dullness before taking any medication. I only took medication today and yesterday, and instantly felt better after the medication started to take effect. Have stayed home from work because of fever, but my dullness in my brain is better now, and I feel a lot sharper and c... |

Yes, been there done that. I have not been believed by many, but my heart knows the truth. I know that everything that happened in my life, or did not happen in my life, was because of Aspergers that went undiagnosed and that now has been finally understood and half-diagnosed. I am an adult so I am ... |

Yes and no. Yes, I have to keep my interests quiet at work, because they would never understand my love for all things Harry Potter. At home, I can wear my fandom t-shirts, I can post my fandom stuff and think about my fandom tattoo (which is likely to be something like the deathly hallows or someth... |

Thanks for the replies. What I have mostly noticed is I need time off to be at home when I have a cold, whereas my coworkers seem to be able to function normally despite having colds. I feel like my brain cannot process what is being said or done, and they seem to be just fine and fully able to proc... |

Oh yes indeed. I need an afternoon nap most days, and if I don't get one, I at least need to sleep in on the weekend, or go to bed early. |
