I don't know why ppl think pro diagnosis (dx for short) will make you know 'for sure'. I have one, I was dxed by an autism and ADHD expert. He said it was 'quite clear' that I have ASD, but it wasn't his opinion that gave me confidence. rather, it was the research and thinking and writing I did befo...

The main emotions I seem to feel are anger and fear. I can lose my temper quickly. I dislike emotions and would rather just remain 'functional'. Anger and fear certainly seem to be up there. Often I don't feel much emotion though and still struggle to function. I wonder if having more access to my ...

So I haven't really thought about this before, but since moving in with some new (non-autistic) people I have noticed they seem to experience a wider variety and greater intensity of emotion than I do. does anyone here feel like they ~don't~ experience a lot of emotion? I have strong feelings (love ...

No, why would i? And why would a "meltdown" solve anything? Never had one, for any other reason either. lol good for u if u don't have meltdowns / can control them, but for most autistic people meltdowns just happen, and are often to do with frustration or incredibly strong emotion or sen...

i think like the fact that nearly everyone is getting melancholic means these tests (just like myers briggs) are meant for NTs, and will not give you nuance if you are autistic.

i was melancholic by a very large margin, then sanguine, then choleric, then phlegmatic.

I've always thought like self harm w sharp objects is different to meltdown which for me is headbanging / hitting myself on objects, loss of speech and screaming... but now that I think about it, perhaps they are not so dissimilar. I stabbed myself with a knife when I was at boarding school because ...

I was interviewed twice as was my partner. The psychiatrist was an ASD and ADHD specialist. First interview was a long one about developmental history and medical history. He consulted NT school reports and my previous diagnoses. He used the DISCO to interview me the second time. I was not asked to...

Yeah, I've read a lot about Baron Cohen's diagnostic tests - they are very much aligned with male presentation of symptoms. I have to say I'm quite fond of the intense world theory. That works for me...Also, I read that that there is a link between hypermobility syndrome and autism recently. I was ...

I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS last year due to late onset language development (or rather, with atypical autism, but that is the same as PDD-NOS, right?). My country uses ICD, where PDD-NOS is still a thing. I haven't been able to find much info on PDD-NOS, but apparently it's many things. Most ofte...

Hi I have a question. So an hour ago I had a conversation with my partner in which she said that I 'snap down her throat'. I got really confused by what she meant. Every time I repeated the phrase I got a weird image in my head and it made me extremely distressed. I lost the capacity to speak proper...
