I often watch Orion Kelly's YouTube channel/series, "That Autistic Guy." |

Like anyone else working around me, it was "figure it out, or suffer." And unfortunately, when you do figure it out (by masking), you do suffer (as you well know). Seems like you can't win, sometimes. Glad you finally found some peace. Thanks. Yeah, the "figure it out, or suffer"... |

Pre-diagnosis, I spent way too much time trying to be "normal," with some success, but it was exhausting at times. Post-diagnosis, I don't bother trying to be something I'm not. I accept who I am and work within my limitations instead of pretending my limitations don't exist. This pretty ... |

Hey y'all, I haven't been here in a year and a half. Recently, I've been going through issues, and it'd be best to ask you helpful souls for advice. I'm homosexual and had somewhat of a (shameful) slu*ty phase after turning 18. I essentially had unprotected sex with about five guys, topping all tim... |

I'm a 52 year old man. After almost 50 years of thinking how to hide and manage my feelings of being attracted to males, it's been less than a year since I was able to admit to myself, without any hesitancy or regret, that I have been gay my whole life. After so many years of trying to deny and hide... |

Until this year, I always looked much younger than my actual age. When I was 35, I looked 25. When I was 45, I looked 30. When I was 50, I looked 40. Now age 52, a couple weeks ago I shared my age with someone, and he told me, "yeah, you look 52." That was the first time anyone ever told m... |

I'm in my early 50s. I've recently separated from my wife, a woman to whom I was married for 21 years, and she is in her mid-50s. Although relatively close in age, she and I are definitely in different seasons of our life when it comes to our emotional outlook. To me, she acts like an older person t... |

Typically for me, the consumption of alcohol enables the feeling of being more creative, and the ability to think deeper about things and the plans I want to undertake. Drinking lowers my inhibitions and makes more courses of action seem possible. It's not that I'm afraid to be creative or make plan... |

If you find you often lose your balance, try shoes with a low rise (or no rise) in the heel, and a non-slip outer sole. |

I'm Hyperlexic. I was reading by the time I was 3. I guess I taught myself, my mother says I used to surprise people by reading signs in the stores and reading package labels as a kid. That sounds a lot like me. One thing I remember doing was going into our medicine cabinet at home, pulling out all... |

I was never diagnosed with hyperlexia, but I had all the signs of having it. I grew up in the 1970s, so autism wasn't on anyone's mind if they were trying to figure me out. Everyone just thought I was a really smart kid. I don't remember learning how to read, I just remember I could always do it rea... |

I don't believe there's a connection or correlation between eye colour and autism.
I have green eyes. Or, to be more precise, the level of melanin in my irises scatters light in such a way that my irises appear predominantly green |

I noticed that as time passed following my diagnosis in 2016, my desire to disclose my ASD changed. At first, I wanted to tell almost everyone, but I didn't. I only told my wife and my sister. As time passed, I realized that not telling lots of people about my diagnosis was wise, as I came to believ... |

"Active but odd" describes me as a child up until the age of 5, when my will was repeatedly broken during my year of Kindergarten by all the other kids in my class. :( I slowly learned that behaving and thinking different than the other kids in a small town's public elementary school was a... |

How did everybody's pride get so delicate that they can't stand to hear information that would show them where there's room for improvement? Thank you for saying that. I recall first thinking this (or something close to this) when I was 5 years old, and it's been something I've always remembered. I... |
