I booked in for an appointment first thing next week for an assessment. I don't know why but now that it is organised I'm nervous. Did any other adult diagnosed aspie's feel this way? What should I expect? I'm afraid I'll forget something in nervousness. Or I'll mess up some how. I've always dreaded...

If I hear people talking outside a room I'm in, I'll wait till it's quiet to go out. I do that one. Reading is great because I can protend I'm concentrating instead of ignoring them. I do that one too. :-) Lockheart, Glad to see it's not just me! Oh and I see your from Australia to! Good to see a f...

Ashariel said, "One time in college I avoided people for so long, the campus police broke down my door. That kinda sucked." This happened to me too. I had a doctor's appointment scheduled for a work day, so I planned to use half of a sick day. The appointment would not take long, but my t...

I wear sunglasses to avoid eye contact (also helps with light senestivity). If I hear people talking outside a room I'm in, I'll wait till it's quiet to go out. I used to listen to music but I've been reading instead lately. Reading is great because I can protend I'm concentrating instead of ignorin...

I only pick up the fairly obvoius body language but not the subtle body language. I was clueless that I was missing some body language until getting disgnosed at age 55. I was flabbergasted to learn that something like 90 percent of human communication is non verbal. Wow, is it really that high? I ...

OP, I have done EXACTLY THIS to my father-in-law's family, even my husband. I'm a nurse, and he was in need of immediate medical care. They were all 'emoting' about how 'horrible' he had been treated, and how bad he looked, and how little he was able to interact with people (sudden decline in cogni...

I'm currently waiting for spare time to be diagnosed. I've had many 'aha' moments since discovering aspie. My best friend is an Aspie. He was the first one to ask if I was. That's when I started exploring it. I'm on the search for a professional view.

Lol I've done this, apparently it's rude to point it out. That is the response I got.

I get asked this a lot. Unless it's an obsession I currently have or interest. I usually just give them a blank stare. I suck at small talk and sometimes I'm to anxious about screwing up a conversation.

I once told someone that there feeling didn't matter and I swear if I wasn't her daughter in-law she probably would have punch me (according to my husband). My mother wasn't too impressed either. To tell someone that their feelings don't matter is tantamount to telling them they don't matter. While...

Oh I'm glad it's not just me! I'm starting to feel a more 'belonging'. The more I read about Aspie, the more 'ah that make sense' moments I have. My husband aggreed that I should get tested professionally. He told me that I have an issue of repeating what I've said. Apparently I asked if things are,...

Has anyone been told not to be so honest. Or almost punched in the face for telling someone their feelings don't matter? I'm currently in search of a professional diagnosis. But am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences to these? I once told someone that there feeling didn't matter and...

Hi, Unfortunate_Aspie, English is my first language, MomoNoHanna is a result from a past obsession (Japan). I have been there twice. I also speak a little Mandarin and have been to Singapore five times (another past obsession). ZombieBride, Thank you for pointing that out. I do indeed have symptoms....

Thank you the replies. I have already done the popular aspie quiz. I scored 158, which is apparently likely to be Aspie. I am in the search for a psychiatrist. In response to the 22q, I have read and talk to others on forums who have 22q plus Aspie. 22q is common however, it is a deletion not many a...
