I notice that NTs seem not to notice these differences; they seem to feel them. You and I (HF Aspie) see them, we analyze and verbalize them. An NT will see them and as a result not trust some one, or have a bad feeling about some one, but not be able to explain why. They have a subconscious emotion...

That totally sucks. Group think is how good people end up doing horrible things.

But the sad truth is, get used to it. It dominates NT thinking. NTs don't know how to think without it.

Yes, I think so. To me, Asperger's is a matter of instincts. I have terrible social instincts but I can learn social skills when I invest the time. Some NTs may have terrible trigonometry instincts but can learn it if they invest the time; trigonometry came naturally to me. So an NT may have better ...

You have two very different styles of communication. To wear his shoes for a second, if you don't take the initiative and elaborate on what that noise in the middle of the night was, then I assume it wasn't very interesting to you either. If it was interesting, tell me all about it. But if you wait ...

See 2 or 3 psychiatrist/psychologists specializing in anger management. Some suck at their job. Some are excellent. Once you found one you like work with them for a few months. I learned the skills to cope with anger in about 4 months and about 12 meetings. It has been really, really helpful. And I ...

I was a nightmare in restaurants. I'd scream and cry and demanded to eat and drink everything on the table, which couldn't happen when my dad ordered a beer.

Basically, my parents gave up on taking me to restaurants until I was 3 or 4.

I just saw it. And I loved it. Yeah, it has a lot of Hollywood clichés, and probably won't please any parents of autistic children. But basically, the Accountant is my kind of bad ass.

If the treatment doesn't work, find another.

I've talked to multiple therapists. Some were a total waste of time. Some were excellent; they really gave me the tools I need to cope.

Since about high school, the friends I've made and ones I still talk to today are anything but white males. My best (one) friend from high school moved here from Taiwan when he was about 12. My best friend from college is a woman whose parents moved here from India. When I worked in restaurants, I g...
