@SocOfAutism - Thank you. I spent the day at work listening to youtube videos on the subject but I prefer to read as much as possible. That was one I came across but I also found several others that seem interesting as well. Who knows maybe I'll get all of them. |

@FandomConnection - I can understand. I have a tendency to make the assumption that most people actually want to make sense when they talk so it bothers me when I run into situations where things don't make sense; but after thinking about this at length today, it appears that's also an assumption...... |

@babybird - yes. basically...but when I address the illogic with them, i'm the "bad guy" because I didn't immediately get that they were not speaking literally
@League_Girl - That makes sense. I never looked at it that way, but I can see what you mean. |

Hello everyone! I have recently found that I seem to be noticing/paying attention to peoples assumptions more than most people naturally do. Although, generally speaking, I don't necessarily care about what kinds of assumptions people are making; I still find it quite hard to explain to people what ... |

I can understand this. For me, it's not really so much of a "making sure i'm smiling" thing as much as it is a "make sure I'm not furrowing my brow" or pinching my forehead together. That typically comes off, at least in my experience, as seeming as if one isn't happy or smiling ... |

This would make sense to me as well. I too am relatively new to the aspie world and I've noticed that I have a tendency to go back and forth between having good days and bad days. Depression also runs in my family so the "bad" days thing is more of a reference to that than anything but I d... |

I can understand what your talking about and have had my own interactions with this type of situation as well. For me it was about clothing. I once interviewed for a management job with a...let's say "alternative culture" food service company. The company always portrayed themselves as a l... |

Thank you everybody for your replies. I could have sworn I replied to this last night but I think I might not have actually posted it. Anyways, Thank you for all the encouragement. It has been a little bit of a rough transition, trying to get my head around all of this new information, but I feel li... |

naturalplastic, Thank you for your response. I guess that's what i'm talking about then. Meltdowns that is. Please forgive me, like I said I'm still new to this and I'm still trying to understand all the terminology. Anyway, i guess the easiest way to describe what I'm looking to understand is like ... |

Hello all! My name is William and it has recently been brought to my attention that I am most likely autistic. Specifically Aspergers. I am a 32 year old male. It does appear to be high functioning (which, to me, is both a blessing and a curse). I was wondering though: what was it like for you when ... |
