So I understand that "talking to yourself" refers generally to speaking aloud when you're by yourself, but I've always been unclear on motive. Does "talking to yourself" mean that you speak, then you reply back to yourself as another might? This would be a true conversation with ... |

1) light touch, whether it's from another person or loose clothing (I have to wear a tight undershirt under everything)
2) multiple people talking at once
3) sunlight (I wear sunglasses on rainy days. Bright sunlight is unbearable. |

I know the whole point is not to know, but I'm 15 and can anyone tell me what they are going to do etc. would they notice that you are faking non autistic behaviour? Why would you want to fake it? I'm guessing that her concern is that they won't pick up on autistic traits if she's learned to compen... |

I'll offer this disclaimer right up front: I'm not a psychologist and I haven't been studying this stuff very long, so what I'm about to say could be all wrong. I do hear some executive functioning issues, but the overall theme sounds to me like it might be that you're seeing a million details (all ... |

I experience this at work. Are you just burned out from your job? Or is your job hurting you because of your Autism? This, to me sounds different from what is called Autistic Burnout. This sounds like a normal kind of burnout where someone is burned out from a particular specific thing that is outs... |

I was diagnosed with OCD 15 years ago, but I wasn't a misdiagnosis (as in an incorrect diagnosis); it was bonafide OCD. However, the diagnosis of ASD was missed. My most recent eval stated that the criteria for OCD are not present at this time, and that's correct, largely due to CBT and Paxil. They ... |

First, there is nothing "wrong" with you. And you either are autistic or you're not; a diagnosis doesn't make you autistic. If you are autistic, would you like to know that so you can approach the future armed with strategies that will work? Or do you want to do what I did for the past 40 ... |

I hate affectionate physical contact from anyone other than my wife/kids. But I also do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (think of it as wrestling where chokes are allowed), and I feel completely comfortable grappling with other people, men or women. The difference is that this physical contact is not a display ... |

That sounds like a wonderful job and I hope you find it. My experience as a programmer for nearly 30 years is different. The meetings were endless, the fuzzy requirements were in flux, management would make impossible promises and the fire fighting was brutal. I don't want to discourage your dream.... |

Thank you, My friends in college were into actuarial courses. I tried a few but prefer writing software. High level software positions require many of the soft skills that you mention. Those are the skills that turned me away from my career. Keep us informed on your progress. The role I had the mos... |

I experience this at work. I've been an actuary for 15 years and have left every company I've worked at after 2-3 years because of this. I took a new role with my current employer about 9 months ago and after just a few weeks I told my managers that "I don't know why this is happening, I can't... |
