I had a skype "diagnosis" with her and I am in the U.S. It is not considered a legitimate diagnosis here. I did it because I was short on money and unable to find anyone local willing to do an evaluation for an adult. I also did not need to use it for anything other than my own information...

Well thank you cyberdad. I agree that addressing communication issues head on, can and should yield good results but that's really not what I did. I avoided addressing the issue or communicating with her at all and actually sat back and waited to be fired. I was surprised to find it had positive res...

I just wanted to say thank you for all of the great ideas. I am just catching up on these now and plan to take the online course. The meeting with my boss did not go bad. The union rep, pretty much spoke for me and was able to clearly articulate what I wanted to state. However, my boss's boss, still...

You are right, unfortunately now I have another problem to deal with, my supervisor had written me up for "poor communication" in my evaluation and I contested it. Now I have a meeting scheduled for next week with my supervisor, her supervisor and possibly someone above her to discuss our...

The current pandemic and if I am the only one who has found some relief in social distancing, wearing masks, less traffic on the roads, workplace and in stores. I know it sounds awful but there are so many things about what most people consider normal day to day living that causes panic and stress f...

It's Saturday and I didn't have to go to work and slept until noon. Also, it finally rained today and the temperature never went above 100 degrees.

Protesting (peacefully) is a right in a democracy, rioting is not. Often peaceful protests turn into riots due to agitators who may not even be there to protest.

I would be skeptical. I am sure that there are doctors on dating apps but I don't necessarily think that they would advertise in their profile. I mean if they wanted to find someone who was interested in them for who they are and not for their status as a doctor, what would they gain by mentioning it?

I have only found one other person that I thought may be on the spectrum and she has a partner (and only works one oe two days a week). I agree that disclosing now probably would not help but the ADA also protects me from having to disclose, so I cannot get in trouble for not disclosing earlier. I a...

I also spoke with a friend about the autism (she is one of the few, I have told) and asked her if I should mention it and ask for an accommodation or not mention it because they would just assume, it would make me unable to do the job. She said I should mention the ADD (I was diagnosed with ADHD wit...

I looked for other posts before posting and although there were a few, they were very old. I have been a social worker on and off for a couple decades and got my ASD diagnosis about four years ago. I worked for the Division of Developmental Disabilities and that's when I learned about autism and be...

Talk with your team mate and supervisor. If you are thinking of changing anyway, what do you have to loose by disclosing your diagnosis and working on a solution? I have worked with people before and can be very successful. Also, the wrong person is horrible. Personally, I think of teams as members...
