I think it might if the Mom was autistic herself. But not that she caused it by her actions, more like she passed the genes on to the child. Women often go undiagnosed so it would make sense in that way.

Not that treatment has such a stellar record ATM, but why isnt anyone speaking about what kind of treatment could work for the issues women have related to Autism. So many connections I have been making in regards to my own life to date since my DX, I wonder if any other women have made those conne...

I get the feeling one is not supposed to stop being themselves. Just learn better ways to cope with it I guess. Personally I still like who I am more then the average NT, even if I have burned many bridges along the way. At least I am allowed to think for myself and come to my own conclusions about ...

I agree that its not my fault. That was my lame attempt at humour. I know I am not good at it, I am still a work in progress I guess;)

Eikonabridge, I understand at this point Autism is a male dominated issue and I understand what you were trying to get through to me. Im not sure if you realize how women with Autism have been misdiagnosed or went undiagnosed for generations and there is still not a formal way to diagnose them as th...

Got my Aspie diagnosis this month, at age 63. Glad to see another mature (if less mature than me :)) female on this site. I personally get on better with my more neurotypical son than I do with my ADHD trans daughter. However, before she told me she was trans, in order to get to know her better aft...

No worries, You can not please everyone and if you try to you just might lose a part of yourself you didn't know you have or miss out on a valuable experience. Learning how to deal with others is a part of growing up and the more you learn the better you will be at it in the future. Also don't forge...

Animals can be healing to most anyone, diagnosis or not. They have been used for therapy for numerous reasons before. I think it is great you are here asking for advice. I do not have much to offer as far as answers, I am new to this all myself. I just wanted to say thank you for coming to learn abo...

Just got back from the Doc's. So apparently I have a mild form of Autism, now I understand why I get along so much better with my HFA son then I do with my older son(ADHD). Explains alot. Not sure what I should do with the info now? Not sure who I should tell? Not sure if I believe it is only mild(I...

Absolutely, I see connections in so many things socially it is hurting my heart where it looks to be leading. For me to explain it would sound insane to society since the mainstream thinks they know what they are doing is right, so I have chosen to keep my words and thoughts to myself so far. Even t...

I understand the need for reporting things to me and such and he does now also. I guess it just worries me when he grows up if he will take the appropriate steps to get help on his own. Right now its not so much of an issue because he is with me, but when he grows up it could be if he does not learn...

My son has a high pain tolerance/threshold to the point where he has neglected telling me about things that he had to go to emergency for. When he was younger he would fight going, now at least he will come with me willingly, but he still does not understand how to judge when something "annoys&...

Thank you for the welcome, and for confirming I am not the only one with such an issue. I should say I am somewhat anti social(I find society to be very fake), I find most conversations to be rather unfulfilling and full of fake sayings we have been programmed to say, so I don't bother most of the t...

What if words changed their meaning over time without us realizing why, but with a specific purpose? Like the word Wyrd used to mean to have control over your fate or destiny, then it morphed into weird(it did not mean back then what it does now) with the witches in macbeth, then it was used as a de...
