Hi, thank you, everyone, who replied. I was really embarrassed after writing the post and I wished I hadn't. I am very bad about sharing because I tend to get in trouble for what I say. I actually learned a lot. Truly, most people really are not interested in what you are saying as long as it is com... |

I hate the internet. I often say really rude things, horrible things. Then I get off line and beat myself up. Imagine if the internet no longer existed, those events would not happen. I am about to get an online job. Basically, my computer will be a job portal and I might be less interested in it. J... |

Aspergers was identified in 1947. This means it existed for years before it was identified. Psychiatry has only been a legitimate science since the late 1800's. (Before that they were basically prison wardens). Every person with Aspergers before about the 1980's 1990's did not get any kind of "... |

Personally, I was diagnosed with bipolar. The pills made me into a zombie. One sent me to the hospital with anaphylactic shock. There is no telling whether Bipolar is real. The psychiatric manual they all use has been expanded so much that anything is considered mental. They are saying to me that it... |

I really do not talk to people except to recite "scripts" at work. Otherwise, I have not communicated for about 10 years and even before that communicating was rare. No one really wants to hear what I feel, believe or anything else. I am often considered a good listener. I nod at all the r... |

I mistrust most tests because they are all based on deviance from the norm and the norm is what shifts. One example is that what defines "intelligence" or even "skill" has changed over time and will never be an actual stable point. A good example is the shift of the US republican... |

I think that summer should be spent doing some kind of physical exercise. A perfect job seems to be a landscaper's assistant of some kind. Hard physical work to get some sun and muscles. dealing with pretty flowers, grass, rocks and maybe one or two people. That sounds to me like a perfect job. Anot... |

LOL. I am 60. Believe me, if you have not followed the unwritten rules, (has kids by X age, house paid off by X age) you are treated like you have been in prison for 40 years and just got out. If you are a woman and don't adore kids you get the treatment too. It is all about society forcing people t... |

1. Masking abilities seem correlated with gender but not completely bound to it - individuals can always be very different from the median characteristics; 2. It applies rather to young females - children and adolescents. In adult life, the masking females often burn out and show either more obviou... |

I was watching a video about autism, and they said that females generally learn how to "mask" their symptoms in social situations. This assumes that they are in social situations. What about females who avoid any kind of social situations. I have really not "gone out" with anyone... |

This is a universal problem. About the only way that you can go to appointments and so on, is to ask the boss for time off. I'd like to add that "work" really has total control over people's lives. Most people hate it, and hate their jobs. We are all prisoners, being forced against our wil... |

I totally understand. I have not fixed my situation any yet, but am starting to look for work again. I enjoy working. I do not enjoy this money for time scheme people call "work." I like working with different people all the time because I don't really want to dive into long term relations... |

Thanks for the response. I can see we are about the same age. Most things I read or see about Aspergers or HFA has to do with children or teens who have caring loving parents who are willing to go out of their way for them. That's great to see. The thing is that Asperger identified the syndrome in 1... |

Apparently, I joined this forum in 2016. Back then, I had a job and probably did not have much time for this. In 2016, I nearly died of a disease I now know I have which can cause sudden death at any time. My anxiety level is through the roof. I was diagnosed with Bi-polar and was drugged like crazy... |

The only time I ever tell anyone is if someone is terribly upset with whatever I have said or done. I hate talking about myself or my issues to anyone. People generally pack that stuff away and use it against you at some point. Everyone seems to have their own "mythology" of these things w... |

Being logical, and being emotional is not mutually exclusive. I think the character of "Spock" has produced a culturally shared image (meme) considered short-hand for logical people. It is not a fight between the logical and the emotional. I think your coping mechanisms really depend on th... |
