Thank you everyone sooo much. I knew this was the right place to go for answers. I am a single mom and always have been. My son and I are extremely close and he tells me how he is feeling most of the time. He tells me when someone is bullying him and I take care of it. I hope he always feels that he...

I have seen him do his work when offered incentives. I know he is not as mature as the other students his age, but he is making very poor choices. He is allowed to sit with any lab group that he wants, but he says he doesn't like anyone in there. So he chooses detention or In-school suspension inste...

I am at a total loss and my son's poor teachers are frustrated as well. Colton is 14 and in 8th grade. The teachers and school have done everything they can think of to accommodate him and his needs. He scored among the highest in the state on his state tests and knows all the material he is being t...

I wish Colton could actually write on here. He doesn't really seem able to communicate with his own ideas yet. Almost everything he says comes from a movie. I really don't think he is even aware that he is different than the other kids.

I love The Simpsons. The only problem I have with it is that my son LOVES it and Futurama. Being that he is 9 years old and repeats things a lot in public, I try to keep him completely away from futurama and The Simpsons. When he gets really excited he tends to go through ALL of his various Simpsons...

Thank you so much for responding. His teachers have been very understanding and have not pushed him. I am trying to get him to practice a little bit this summer, but he doesn't seem to want to try. If he is not comfortable with it by the end of the summer I will put writing in upper case in his IEP....

Are any of you on medication for Asperger's? My son is on 7 1/2 mg of Ritalin 3 times a day, a very low dose, but it makes a HUGE difference for him. His Dr. has suggested that we switch to Strattera. he says that people with Asperger's respond really well to it and that it will make it easier on hi...

My son can write upper and lower case letters, but he refuses to write lower case. he is going into 3rd grade and will not even TRY cursive writing, he says that his hands won't let him. I know that he is capable physically of this task, but I know he has a good reason for not doing it. Did any of y...

My son is 9 years old and has Asperger's. He doesn't particularly like school either, but I think he likes the structure of it. Since summer vacation began, his behavior has gotten worse and he is having a lot of trouble at bedtime. His therapists think it is because of the lack of structure. you gu...
