Floyd Collins, the spelunker who died in Sand Cave in 1925, was a first cousin to my maternal grandmother. I don't know if anyone on that side of the family has AS. |

One of my elementary school teachers noted on my report card that I didn't often contribute to discussions, and when I did it wasn't relevant to the topic. I think it was the third or fourth grade. I was better at it as I got older, but I still go off on a tangent once in a while. |

Toxic companies, toxic religious groups or churches, advertising, manipulative friends or relatives, crooked government officials (We all do it and you can't stop us), and dictators are all groups that bombard people with this stuff every day around the world. Faster communications and news addictio... |

Good points. Most or all have been made before, but they're still good points. That's why it takes a licensed clinical psychologist with training specific to autism to determine whether someone fits the symptoms. A lot of people have had problems related to being examined by psychologists without th... |

One of my friends got a computer programming diploma from a local business college in the late 70's. He was my supervisor at the time. A nephew of his got an assembly-line job for $10/hr and the family told my friend "Well, I guess he's better off starting at $10 an hour out of high school instead o... |

Welcome to WrongPlanet. I hate being left out, too. I used to try very hard to make friends. Eventually, I found that if I tried less hard I had better luck. After 51.5 years I have a few friends that know me and like me anyway. Some I've known almost 30 years. Anyone can be friends when it's easy. ... |

The trick is to learn how to make yourself as happy as you can in spite of the crap in life. It's not easy sometimes. Some people use hobbies, some do volunteer work, some join a school club (I was on the chess team), etc. You have to find what makes you happy and use it to cope with having to slog ... |

The trolls and hackers would explode with exhilaration if they caused the destruction of the world wide web and the internet. Then what would they do? :? Look for something else to tear down while the web was being rebuilt. Maybe the phone system or satellite communications. Then they'd go after th... |

The trolls are inevitable. Nature doesn't make anything exactly the same way every time. Experiments are needed to see what works as the world changes over time. And, as Alfred said in "The Dark Knight", some men just like to watch the world burn. Some people will tear down what someone else builds ... |

Until I was in my 40s, people would tell me I should do this or that and ignore my opinions to the contrary. They wouldn't stop until I yelled at them, then I was labeled as mean. I figure they read something in my face or body language that told them I was confused, undecided or easily led by the n... |
