Hey M, why don't you invite them to do something with you? Look for a nice bar, an interesting film or so and ask who wants to go with you In this way only the people who share your same interests will show up, and you'll be able to socialize faster. |

Wait...you can tell if he's looking at your mouth instead of your eyes? That seems like such a minute difference that it would be virtually unnoticeable. I look at people's mouths, and I thought people just assumed I was looking at their eyes. ooooh yes :) There is a HUGE difference. When people lo... |

Hi Am, I'd like to give you my NT point of you. I work with Aspies and am in a relationship with one, and what I find really "innocent" (it's the wrong word, yes, but it's just the wrong interpretation of your nature) is when they start telling me about super personal issues (nightmares, ... |

Hi :) I am a NT and I'd like to share my experience with you. When I first met my boyfriend (Aspie), I was really confused. He kept looking at my mouth while speaking to me. This, in the language of seduction, means "I like you very much, I'd like to kiss you", so I was blushing like crazy... |

I laugh when someone beeps at someone else on the road, I don't understand why people are so easy to get offended by very minor problems on the road, I laugh when people start audibly tutting or muttering when a cashier is taking too long, it's ridiculous, I laugh when people trip up or drop someth... |

Hi everyone! I wanted to share this thing with you: my boyfriend has a clear problem with laughter management. There are two typical situations: - He starts laughing for something that is moderately funny (something that would make me, NT, smile, for instance) and he can't stop. He can go on for a c... |

Btw, welcome to WP :D So, are you an SLP? I've known several and have great respect for their profession. :D Thank you! I like this Forum :) Nope, I am not exactly a Speech Language Pathologist, I am a linguist with a MA in Language and Learning Disorders (Dyslexia, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum). I just... |

I would encourage him to view his self-concerns as an intellectual exploration of a sort. I would say "You have expressed curiosity about some of your traits....ie. why you are the way you are....is that something you would like to explore further?" If he says 'Yes' then ask him "Who... |

Be careful now, I fell in love with an aspie after working with autistic people for many years. Over the last 2 years he's taught me that I'm even more 'aspie' than him and was totally oblivious (my diagnostic assessment is tomorrow) oh :) So I guess you won't really mind whether you find out... |

If you want to tell him, prepare yourself first for a backlash. Even though you may have the appropriate training and licensing, by imparting your opinion to him, you may adversely affect your budding relationship. If you feel that you simply must tell him, do so with the utmost delicacy and consid... |

He sounds great. I have done this before and it really backfired on me. He had asked me questions about why I did this and that and said he related. We exchanged email addresses and one of the conversations we had was started by me sending some general thoughts on Aspergers and what I'd found out a... |

Thank you Rdos for your opinion :) The reason why I was wondering if I should tell him or not is because he keeps saying "I don't know WHY I have this voice, I hate it. I don't know WHY I have these tics", etc. And I feel sorry. Then you can use these questions to lead him on to possibly ... |
