Next time, bring a paper towel so you can clean up after your dog. Do you think the police would ask about your wife? I am very ill, and I believe I am hospital bound, so this conversation will have to end. People of color are treated differently in encounters with police. That's my last word on th... |

Sure enough I identified the connection behind people wanting to make it harder for the "under educated" to vote...I knew the source of such discriminatory ideas would be easily found: In yet another shot in the war on voting rights, Fox News and Ann Coulter suggested bringing back litera... |

EbenCooke, by making gross, sweeping generalizations about 17 million "leave" voters, about whom you yourself are ignorant in the truest sense, because you only believe what you want to believe based on equally biased "articles" on the internet, you're the one showing your ignor... |

Did I ever give any indication that I don't agree with the above? Actually, I do agree with the above. You should read what I've written in other threads. Well I've read what you've written here. I asked a question, which you've ignored. Do you think your experience with the police would have gone ... |

If you read all of what I've written, I never stated that I have had the experience of "people of color." Obviously, I've had some advantages because I am white (how did you know that I'm white? But I am white LOL) However, I have been roughly treated by cops at times. One time, I was jog... |

I happen to have an absolute, real respect for the police. I haven't been involved in too many traffic stops---but when they do happen, it's "yes, sir, no sir." And that is without sarcasm. Sometimes, cops do go overboard, though. On people of color. Not white people. Stop pretending it's... |

I can only quote whole passages. I don't know how to quote specific lines. I never had somebody want me to "quote" before. Why is it polite to quote? I tried to quote you---but Captcha wouldn't let me. Essentially, I believe we are having a "half glass empty-half glass full" sor... |

Where did I ever say that I'm "denying their misery?" I'm aware of what's going on in the world. Yep...East New York is a pretty miserable area, full of housing projects and dilapidated homes. However, there has been some new construction of houses over the past 10-15 years. Even amid the... |

I work closely with the Criminal Courts, so I know there's a "permanent underclass." I've known people within it, being on welfare for two generations or more. I don't know what they call it now---but when I was a kid, it was "welfare." It's a tragedy, really. But there are many... |

A perfectly valid alternative explanation for that googlevent. Nothing can alter the fact that the actual vote for leaving was cast by older, less educated voters. If you want to argue that less education is good for democracy, go ahead, but that is the subject of this thread. I'll make my own argu... |

I feel like I've turned over a rock and seen some pretty ugly thing crawl out. Yes Virginia, there is a far right in the US. Yes, dear Virginia, there are champions of ignorance. I don't think these replies should engender debate, just bug spray. No one has chosen to dispute Jefferson and FDR, for ... |

Part of the reason neighborhoods go bad is because of White Flight. Part of it is the responsibility of the new residents. Both play an equally paramount role in the disintegrations of neighborhoods. But this was more like what occurred in the 50's through 70's. It's not occurring as much nowadays.... |

White flight is a symptom of racism in itself, and there's no defense of that. This is their defense: -property values will plunge -the city crime rates will surge -graffiti will appear -city will stop fixing stuff because the tax base will evaporate -city services will be cut, pay for city workers... |

Well it would if you made the choice by assuming since more black people live here than there probably is elsewhere instead of just looking up the crime statistics available for that area. Race does not need to factor in to the decision. I can name 10+ nearby cities that have transformed from middl... |
