However, like many Firefox preferences, this ...

It may be related to ADD. I've been a professional programmer for thirty years (now retired) but went through frequent bouts of mental lethargy and inability to concentrate on coding. At other times I worked feverishly at the keyboard non-stop. It helps if what you are trying to program is interesti...

The left didn't do squat to atheism. The regressive left aka SJWs have hijacked new atheism though. The so called old atheists aka mostly agnostic atheists are still having tea parties discussing philosophy, moderate left politics and how new atheists are dicks to them. new atheism? I am convinced ...

Probably just a meteor exploding in the atmosphere. Anything else would have been noticed and big news worldwide, especially a nuclear explosion and resulting EMP disrupting electronics and satellites.

From a European perspective, there seems to be a link between the far right in the USA and Christianity. Republican fanatics are often seen in the news promoting church over state and pushing bigoted Christian ideas such as anti-gay discrimination etc. Here in the UK and France where most people are...

I've been a professional programmer since my early twenties. I'm now 56. Your profile lists you as being 39. At that age I was still receptive to new software techniques and languages (both programming and human) but as I got closer to 50 I've noticed a definite decrease in my ability and patience t...

Flash is notorious for zero day exploits and many people just uninstall it nowadays as it is too much of a security risk. Most (popular) websites don't use it any more e.g. YouTube and Facebook. Flash is slipping into obsolescence. I haven't had Flash installed for several years now and can't say I ...

I've left my HP printer/scanner hooked up to an old (offline) XP computer and transfer documents to/from Linux Mint via a USB stick. Haven't tried to connect Mint directly to the printer (yet). I suspect the printer would work but not the scanner, as it uses a HP (Windows based) application to do th...

This further reinforces my conviction that abandoning Windows and switching to Linux was the right thing to do. Windows 10 is little better than spyware.

For games. It's only one use. Why have only one partition on your computer ? Your computer will be at its best with a dual / triple boot. This is a good idea, or even to run Linux from a VM under Windows, which wouldn't cost anything. That way you could use Linux to browse the web and in the unlike...

There is no such thing as a 100% safe computer, especially if you are running Windows. There are always zero day exploits cropping up with Windows or Adobe Flash. Best to uninstall Adobe Flash as it is quite a security risk and is essentially obsolete technology, replaced by HTML5 by most mainstream...
