Thanks Jimmy M. I’ve been thinking about it today, and I think I was worrying about this too much because I have been sad lately. Sometimes when I’m sad I overthink things. Perhaps talking to my parents about feeling sad and guilty will help me get over it.

Thank you, sarahsmith. I’ll do that. They always tell me the worst they can say is no. It is just hard potentially disappointing them.

Note: I think I was just overreacting because I have been sad lately. I think I’ll be fine once I talk to my parents. For some background, my family usually goes to Disney every 5 years and we stay for about ten days, and the last time we went was last Christmas. Unfortunately, last trip my older br...

Why are so many against this? I think some people that forget that there are low-functioning individuals who would benefit from a treatment like this. Some people with autism can’t talk, can’t go to school, and are constantly overwhelmed by the world around them. If therapy and medications are okay,...

I care very little in terms of appearance. All throughout high school, I wore a polo shirt or turtleneck and then a pair of sweatpants. I usually try to shave because I don't want to make others uncomfortable, but if I don't get to it I don't worry. However, I do try to cover up my scars because I f...

Well, I'm flattered that they think that I am so special, but I remain highly skeptical. Autistics shall save us from the Illuminati.

I find it slightly annoying because it is used as a synonym for stupid, and I do not view stupidity as an inherent trait of autism. If they are going to use autism as an insult then at least make it a synonym to something related to autism, like social awkwardness. P.S. here is a URL to a similar to...

NOTE: I didn't realize the date on the forum when I first posted. I know now that it is kind of irrelvant. Whoops. It's nice to see that you want to write a character with autism. :D Canon autistic characters aren't that common, and it is great to see that you want to try and integrate autism into y...

People and society need to help us so we can help it back. In many cases, the people who require the most help, are the people who have the most to give. Even if you make an impact on just one person, that can be huge.

Compassion for animals, especially cats Unfortunately, this didn't apply to me. I never tried to be mean to my cat, but I struggled for a long time to understand her cues. I always tried to show her that I loved her... by forcing her to cuddle me... I was younger back then, and fortunately, ...

My favorite trait is getting lost in my inner world. NTs can do this too, but I notice it happens more often with neurodiverse individuals. My younger sister and I always have a movie going on in our heads of our current interests. Being so indulged in our inner worlds help us learn skills (that exc...

I knew the basic concept of racism, but it took a long time for me to internalize it. When I was young I invented a world in my head that everyone was equal for the most part, but in different ways. I had lots of difficulties with stress and social skills but to compensate for that I had my high int...
