Does length of exposure make a difference? The intensity of the stimulus is relative to the amount of time I can put up with it before I start to get into an overload type situation. For example, with just sound, I will spend the least amount of time possible on a train platform in case a non-stop ...

I'm a shorty, so I used to go under people to get open. My shot sucked, though.

I'm a forward / forward-centre - so big and slow :)

I would agree with luminifera in the sense that I'm not a fan of gender roles but it's more that I don't like the constraints that society attaches to people based on their sex / gender. There are always going to be things that one sex is better at than the other in most cases but that shouldn't mea...

So I know it's anxiety inducing but that is only temporary...with each week that passes you'll feel better and better and before long your new life will be your new normal. Thanks for this, it is helpful. I think it would have been easier if I had some time between moving and starting my new job bu...

Thank you kraftiekortie and fifasy. I hope to drive back on some weekends to be with my husband / at home but I'm not sure how often that will be.

Yes, there will be a monthly "wage" to cover rent etc.

Thanks again. I think I just need to do it now, and settle into a new routine!

One of the airports closest to me posted a video on their website which explained, step by step, everything you would have to do leading up to getting on the plane - specifically for autistics. Check to see if they have one of those for you, I found it very helpful!

Definitely their problem, not yours. All you need is someone to give you a week or so to settle in. Hope you find something!

So this time next week I'll be moving to a new city to start a new job and I'm completely freaking out about it. To put it into some context - I live with my husband and have a stable job that I love and that I've done for a number of years. About 7 years ago I started playing basketball (ie. I got ...

I think you're probably right in that we "pass" better, even if we feel out of place. I was always a bit of an outsider at school and didn't begin to really show any social problems until about age 15. I think I'd always managed to fake it quite well up to that point, even if I didn't real...

I think we're probably prone to misdiagnosis, being female. My first diagnosis was depression with "anger management issues" (which is what the CPN took my meltdowns to be). I don't dispute that I was depressed, but in all likelihood it was because I was living with undiagnosed ASD! Like V...

I spent a couple of years living in similar conditions and whenever the noise got too much I would go out for a run. I lived right on the river and could run out of the city to where it was quiet. I was kind of like a 'reset' so I could cope with another few hours of the noise. If I couldn't go runn...

Wheelchair basketball. I've only been to 'friendly' tournaments so far, but it's the World Cup next year so I'm hopeful to go to that.

I'm an international level athlete, I've represented my country a few times. My plan is to go to the 2020 Olympics. I started off in solo sports but have moved into a team sport. I struggle with it massively but am making progress through sheer determination.

I am currently having loads of problems sleeping. It started on 2nd January this year and has persisted ever since. I fall asleep really easily and then wake up 3-5 hours later and can't get back to sleep. I went to the doctor a couple of times and was given 2 weeks worth of Zopiclone, which didn't ...

I was diagnosed less than a year ago, after getting a misdiagnosis about 12 years previously. The immense relief I felt when I started to research into AS, and to a lesser extend when I was diagnosed, was unparalleled. I've done a bit more reading on AS, and am still finding out things about myself ...
