I studied Irish and Japanese for years, but I got overwhelmed with the complex grammar of Irish and the extremely confusing vocabulary of Japanese. At one point, I could read about 1/3 of a book in Irish. I never learned how to truly grasp Japanese—Kanji is the hardest thing in the world to learn, a...

I have been struggling with special interests as well. But I have made a lot of progress! :D All my life, I have had an uncontrollable obsession with learning. I have been working hard to make myself aware of just what all I know. I have been telling myself over and over again that I am already very...

I personally think it's deeply psychological. Everyone is born with a different personality, most of which are considered "normal", depending on how you define "normal". So that would explain why it appears so early in development while at the same time explaining why it continue...

Nothing wrong with your writing. But, in everyday conversation, it's difficult to others to listen to you if you speak exactly how you write. You have to separate the two. When you're speaking, you have to be more "on point" than when you're writing. Thank you for your reply. :D Sometimes...

Hi there! My name is Todd and I have a question for you all. My therapist feels like I need to learn how to shorten what I say. I have a lot of trouble with talking, and I will go on and on, whether it be face to face or in text. The reason I do this is because I don't know any other way to speak. I...

I have studied both Irish and Japanese. Irish is very beautiful. There is nothing about it at all that isn't pure poetry. However, it has very complicated grammar rules and it's extremely difficult to memorize all the many plural forms. Yet it is far more accessible than Japanese. Japanese is also v...

Social skills can be improved in autistic people. Mine have improved dramatically if you compare the adult me to the child me. But I feel like they reached the limit now, and I can't go any further. Did I improve? Yes. Can I say I have good social skills? Absolutely not, I'm impaired in those and i...

Social skills are how well you socialize with other people. People with poor social skills have trouble with conversation, getting along with others, and solving problems. People with good social skills are great at talking, developing friendships, and working out difficulties. You refine your soci...

in response to another poster, people do decide whether they want to be friends with you in an instant and it is based on a feeling. you want to get to know only the people you are considering becoming friends with. I don't understand how that makes any sense. Why would a person choose their friend...

Social situations are brought on by interacting with other people. Not social interaction by itself, but situations that can be good, neutral, or bad that involves two or more people. So, say, it's your friend's birthday party. That's a social situation because it's special. It's an event that happe...

There's nothing wrong with you. A lot of people don't like animals, including pets like cats and dogs. Some people make a deep, emotional connection with animals and that's normal for them. But it's still normal not to feel that bond. A dog is a pretty large animal. They are not just hard to avoid b...
