I've had experiences with telling friends after a long time of keeping my diagnosis from them. So far, they've all been positive, but it's still hard. I'm with the others in that you would probably be better off waiting until you have an official diagnosis. I'm trying to figure out why your friend w... |

To all you Aspies and autistics out there, I'm wondering what styles of music you enjoy and which bands/artists you're fans of. I guess my tastes would loosely be described as alternative rock. Here is my list of top bands: Imagine Dragons Twenty One Pilots Bring Me the Horizon Coldplay Simple Plan ... |

Thanks for your advice, guys. I'm not sure how much it'll help, but just being able to talk to other people and vent some frustrations makes me feel a little better. I feel like I've been sort of okay with my sort-of eating disorder lately. I guess it comes and goes.
Thanks for your replies, Rachel |

I'm curious to know how others here, in a few sentences, feel their experience of autism would be best described. It's not easy trying to boil it down like that, because it often seems like a whole disparate array of traits, but I'd love to hear what you guys think. I guess how I'd describe it is th... |

There is definitely a connection between autism and gender dysphoria. Several studies have shown that transgender kids show far more autistic traits than would be statistically expected. I'm not so sure about sexuality. I wonder if it has anything to do with us not following accepted social norms, i... |

When you think about it, depression is one aspect of life with autism that seems really overlooked, considering that it must be very common. The causes are a no-brainer really. Loneliness, stress, emotional exhaustion from trying to conform, social rejection, and feelings of worthlessness due to lac... |

Hi everyone. I'm Rachel, I'm 14, and I've been struggling for a while now, so I feel like I might just vent a few things here. All of you'll know how hard Asperger's or autism can make life. High school has felt like such a struggle. I mean, in many ways I'm really at the very tip of the high functi... |

Hey, I'm so sorry that you're going through so much at the moment. It makes the stuff I'm dealing with pale into insignificance by parison. Sometimes, it just seems like the whole world's turning against you. I've felt that way myself sometimes. I hope that things work out as best they can. Other th... |

Just be yourself, whatever that might be. And yes, I know that with society's expectations and the pressure to conform, that can be very difficult. But as much as you can, just be you, and don't worry about what other people say. Take time to explore your identity and figure out what makes you feel ... |

Hey, I'm so sorry you're having a tough time. I hope it gets better for you. In the meantime, just try to keep fighting and stay strong. If you can, you should try and get professional help. I know that's what everyone says and that it seems like a very cliché response, but still, it is generally th... |

I completely understand what you're saying. I'm aspie as well, and I've been wrestling with my gender for ages. I think I'm a trans girl, but that could change. And yes, it is hard to tell where different things overlap. Sometimes I wonder if I really am trans, or if it all boils down to my neurolog... |

Oh, high school stress. I know how it feels. It's hell, and I don't know why no one has thought of an education system that won't destroys teens' mental health. Anyway, sounds like you're having a lot of trouble. I know there's a lot of stigma around it and this answer probably sounds so cliché, but... |

Yes, I know how stupid that statement is. I know it's a potentially lethal mental disorder. I know what you're going to say about it all, and you're right, but please, just hear me out anyway. I'm having a rough year. I've dealt with mental illness to some small extent for much of my life, and in pa... |
