Can your family participate with the caring for the plants? Could be a way of creating involvement. I do let them help with seed planting and watering and sometimes they help dig next to me. But I really want some alone time when I'm doing it to reset so that I'm ready to be an involved mom again. ...

How about setting aside specific timeslots for it? I know that when I come home from work I need time to wind down which I do by cooking alone in the kitchen. My family know this and leave me alone... most of the time :) Make sure they know that these timeslots are time that you need alone and that...

Hi all, I'm an aspie stay at home mother with two small children. A 4 year-old-son, a fellow aspie and an almost 2-year-old daughter (not on the spectrum as far as we know). So basically two of us aspies and two of us not, which is pretty awesome most of the time. My biggest challenge is dealing wit...

My aspie son plays on his own for long periods of time and often is very content to play quietly near me without me having to play with or entertain him. My nt daughter is a drama queen who has to be the center of attention all the time. She is younger but my son was already playing alone at her age.

My son is so loud all of the time and he makes repetitive noises all of the time, mostly train noises. I don't like loud noises and hate repetitious sounds. So yes, he drives me crazy. That being said, we have very similar tactile sensory issues and it's nice knowing each other this way. My daughter...

1. Did you know you had ASD before your Dx? I suspected so after my son was diagnosed about a year ago. My family, my mother in particular, doesn't believe in autism in general. She always tells me, "there is nothing wrong with him, you were just like him as a child and you're fine". My hu...

In 3rd grade I was so disruptive that my teacher kept my desk in the hallway, away from all the other kids. I couldn't really read, or tell time or anything...

Growing up I couldn't stand the sight of blood, I would pass out or throw up. Getting immunizations was horrible because of the drop of blood as well as having a huge issue with needles. I started my period at 17 (which was great!). I had a really hard time at first and would get really nauseous. Pa...
