Indeed. This is why I asked if just one imam worldwide has ever argued against such extremism. Some have, yes. I think mostly or only in the West, though. I think it's really a cultural thing, because in many third world countries people of other faiths also think gay people should be locked up or ...

I've tried CBT a few times. When I was younger (teens/early 20s), I guess I didn't understand it, or see what I could get out of it, or wasn't in the right place in my life, so it wasn't helpful. I tried it again a couple years ago, and it helped me a lot on a couple of points. For one, for a long t...

I wasn't diagnosed until well into my 30s. In some ways, late diagnosis was good for me, but not in all ways. I do think I would have been diagnosed earlier if I had been a boy or if I had not been an only child. My mother had plenty of clues that there was something different about me, but she cho...

It has also been suggested that there is a close relationship between ASD and bipolar disorder in family studies [96-98] and a genetic study.... Therefore, if clinicians encounter a patient with a history of repetitive depressive episodes together with occasional manic/mixed/psychotic periods, they...

I think you should, if you can, get opinions from a couple of specialists and see what your options are, but don't rule out mediation altogether. FWIW, I took Ritalin during the school year from about your son's age until about 16 or so (?). I never felt like it made a difference, but my mom has sai...

Agree with others that you should get him evaluated for schizophrenia. Paranoia and hallucinations (especially hearing voices) are typical symptoms of that. My understanding is that teens and twenties is when that tends to start manifesting, or at least when it gets diagnosed.

My recommendation is to join an interest-based group, or a structured activity. For example, you could join a book club or start taking karate classes. This gives you something to talk about and a reason to get together on a regular basis.

I am not good with expectations, I have heard that from more than one girlfriend. I dont do things because they expect it. I have to be asked. I often find myself in the position where a girlfriend is mad at me because I did not do something, but they never asked me to do it, they just expected me ...

The tone of his comment was mean and unnecessary, but he does bring up a valid complicating issue; that people often enter into more supervisory positions as they get older and more experienced. I think there's a solution, though! If you have your subjects give you their resume/career history, you'l...

I meant what were the really bad things Clinton said in her leaked emails? Did she do something dishonest? The emails show that the DNC were mean to Bernie Sanders and played favorites in the primary. Basically, politics. Also, there were some emails with Podesta and other staff talking about how m...

All US intelligence agencies have said that the Russian government, under the direct order of Putin, hacked into the campaign email systems of both the DNC & RNC, with the purpose of looking for info to try to make Clinton look bad and help Trump win. Lindsay Graham has also said they hacked his...

I only read half of your reply. Your "abortion rights" are trampling over my "religious rights" You want an abortion? You pay for it. Then I'm sure you'll be happy to know that the only way to get an abortion in the US is to pay for it. In compliance with the Hyde amendment, no ...

This is why people should take time over any transition. Hormone treatment comes with health risks attached and there are those advocating treatments to pre-teens, and this is intended to permanently alter their development. As an adult people can make their own decisions, but doctors still have an...

Unless Ivanka completely divests herself from her business, her working in the White House creates a huge conflict of interest. (Same with her husband and her father.) But she certainly seems like a savvy person, and it sounds like she's pretty good at managing her father.

The idea of having to plan some big traditional wedding and reception is awful. I have a hard time even going to someone else's and staying through the whole thing, nevermind having to choose linens and flower arrangements and a DJ and a caterer and invitations and every other stupid thing. My dream...

Oh, and since fascism was brought up, let's have a little chat about what fascism is, since it's often used a synonym for "politics I don't like". Fascism is a form of oppressive authoritarian government that was quite popular in the first half of the 20th century, when many people in Euro...
