^ She thinks you got your diagnosis because the shrink tried to be polite to you? Does that mean she doesn't believe you have it then? Apparently some parents deny it. I guess maybe because it's too hard to realize that their kids "have" something? Autism is diagnosed more in males more t...

I do a lot of research of my destination. Google street view is your friend. When I get to a new country or city, there is a lot of stuff I immediately recognise. That helps a lot. I print out lots of maps so I know where I am going and memorise things like the easiest route from my motel to the tra...

Definitely poor handwriting, even had special out of school lessons as a child to try and help.

Funnily enough I was held back a year in preschool, one of the reasons was that my drawing abilities were below my age. My teenage daughters like to tease me about this.

I think there is a strong correlation. Most very technical people are ISTJ/INTJ and many of those are also somewhere on the spectrum. I'm one such person. It will be interesting how this pans out. How do you know that "Most very technical people are ISTJ/INTJ?" The vast majority of people...

I've traveled OS many times. I just do a LOT of research before I go. Even using Google street view to look around, that way there is a lot of familiar stuff as soon as you hit the ground. Travel will help you grow as a person and you will see the world through new eyes. Bring a friend/partner.

I think the frugal life might actually be a second hand trait. Many of us are quite different to the " Normal " people out there and don't really care or have any great need to follow. The world places a lot of pressure on hyper consumerism. I feel much of the modern world is focused on re...

So, if anyone has any ideas about other positives to a bias towards affective (and away from cognitive) empathy then I'd love to hear them. My first post here. I've discovered a benefit of having difficulty with empathy. I'm a senior first aider in my workplace and have been involved in three resus...
