Actually you sound fine. And you are having relationships, that's a really good start. You could try to get a bit of general knowledge - it can become a specialist interest. Listen to the news in the morning, so you have some general topics to add into the conversation, even keep up a bit on the ce...

Sometimes I was the driver and sometimes she drove. She insisted on the volume being full blast. But, it doesn't matter. Agree with the previous post. Just need to quit picking women who are wrong for me, I suppose.

And, yes, she hated my sensory issues. Radio in the car was a huge deal.

@ OP : I've always had a lot of similar issues, not just in love but in my social life in general. I also seem NT at first but the illusion is gone after a while. And people are really scared of that. The love of my life is a NT man and I don't think that I would have believed in the past that this...

If I wasn't open then I wouldn't have posted this thread. I've just been listening to everyone fight nurseangela. But, yes, perhaps this was the incorrect forum.

I think the movie will have a positive impact, overall. It will broaden people's perception of what autism is and how it can present within different individuals. But I'm already reading articles from angry mothers saying that Hollywood is doing their children an injustice. I understand and empathiz...

Well Good luck! I hope it works out for you. Yes, I'm okay being single sometimes but eventually the loneliness always gets to me. And yes, I like that special companionship as well.

Sounds like you are in a similar situation. I am not intellectually impaired either. When to tell them is what I've been trying to figure out. Don't want to be like hi I'm ____ and have ASD. But at some point they have to know.

Actually, I wrote her notes saying I loved her, made eye contact, watched movies and tried to compensate in any way that I could for social shortcomings. And I loved spending time with her... Just couldn't handle all the external socializing.

Do you tell them you're autistic? The time I tried that, it didn't work out well. She said I was making it up, because I hide it well. Her perception of ASD was limited to the severe side of the spectrum... as many people's perceptions are. I was just trying to be honest so she would know what she w...

Thank you. Yes, my social anxiety is bad. Sometimes it has to do with the atmosphere itself. Places can become disorienting if there is too much going on, combined with social pressures. Went to a bar with friends yesterday and was meeting new people. Was incredibly loud, packed and "busy"...
