Am closer to the atheists than to the religious on WP in how I think, but even I found it annoying (even offensive) when the "strident atheists" (a gang on PPR who actually called themselves that) would pounce on anyone who would float a theological question on PPR by informing the person... |

I'm not religious but I obsess about religion. I think constantly about why we exist, why anything exists, how should we live, does it matter how we live, what is true, what is evil, what is good, why can people believe something when I find it impossible, why can people be atheist when I find it i... |

But there is nothing to compel members to respect such an instruction. Likewise, there is nothing compelling who starts a spirituality/religion topic in PPR to respond to provocative replies. The only place where only supportive comments are allowed is The Haven. That might be a very appropriate pl... |

This looks like it's going a bit awkward but regardless: [...] Seems like I'm trying to figure out which groups I want to stay with longer term, how long term, and how much of my Hermeticism I want to explore on my own vs. within the framework of a formal order. There's a lot they all have to offer... |

Spirituality is a complex topic for me. I grew up in a fundamentalist church which was very frustrating. I would sit there listening to the preacher talk about male headship and that wives should be in subjection to their husbands in all things, and it would make my blood boil. I think it sort of m... |

Spirituality and Religion is often the source of conflict, both between people and within people. It is also often a source of hope, joy, healing and peace. How do those of us who practice some sort of spirituality apply our personal beliefs, spiritual path, teachings etc to our reality as People o... |

So how unpopular is unpopular? Are we speaking highschool unpopular or Nixon unpopular? Whatever definition of "unpopular" you think is accurate. Exactly, however you interpret it. Shoulder-pads and acid-wash jeans unpopular? Since I was never popular at any time in my life I think I am g... |

Ever since I was diagnosed with ADHD (2009) and my wife with AS (2010, I was diagnosed with AS later that year) we have been discussing whether ADHD belongs on the Spectrum.
What do you think?
If you think it belongs on the Spectrum, why?
If you think it doesnt belong on the Spectrum, why? |

That kind of "empathy" is best taught with tough love: you violate someone's boundaries, I violate the integrity of your bones. Beating the crap out him, breaking his bones, as you suggest will not teach him anything. This has nothing to do with empathy or the lack of it. He has plenty of... |

My son is 14 and recently diagnosed with ASD. It took a while for a diagnosis, related to some other comorbities. Before the DSM change they were ruling out pervasive developmental disorder. Anyway. Last year we found out he'd been sneaking out in the middle of the night and stealing food from a ne... |

I was spiritual until I discovered that it's all BS. Now I don't worry about it. Thought is our enemy, it creates all our problems. Stop thinking and end your problems, the Tao Te Ching was right about that. I find it very hard not to think. There is a constant chatter of thoughts going on inside m... |

Internalised Oppression explains that. Yes, it does. It also explains why so many of us are so unaware of just how incredibly talented and resourceful we are, both as a group and as individuals. Because NT Society and our own internalized oppression keep telling us that we, due to our divergent fun... |

You're welcome! :) By the way, I gotta say, your PPR description made me laugh   I derived it from the few snippets around WP where others have let slip one or two less than impressed impressions of what goes on in PPR - If nothing else I have (almost) learned that if the rules are said t... |
