Also, stay away from pubs whose main business seems to be serving food (I think they're callled gastro-pubs) - they tend to dislike people who drink and not eat. Strange. Bars make way more money off of drinks than food. Last I worked in a bar, in the late 90s, a $9.00 plate of food cost us 3 or 4 ... |

I know a little bit about it. I once went on a field trip to the top gambling addiction treatment center in Las Vegas. As you can imagine, it's Ground Zero for gambling addiction; a massive proportion of American cases are concentrated there (we're talking locals, not tourists). And 90% of it is vid... |

That's what I'm trying to do. But to decide, I need information. I confess my ignorance and confusion. |

Many D&D types are damned grateful if an actual real-life girl is there! Most of the time they'll be happy to have you (sometimes a little too happy, if you know what I mean). I guess the ideal is for you to be treated the same as a male n00b would be treated, and it sounds like that's what's ha... |

Hmmm... you could be a copywriter. There's a high demand for them, and I'm looking into going into the field myself. I think I could do that. Is it possible to get into it remotely? I live in a foreign country and can't get a real job here (long story). I'm looking for something I can do from far a... |

I'm overeducated and underemployed. What little work I have right now sucks the big one. I'm below the poverty line, and the future's looking grimmer still. What do I want in life? I want a job where I can sit at home alone in front of my computer and do my thing, and where I get enough income to wh... |

And then there's "he can't possibly have that, because I read about it in a magazine once, and he isn't like the people in the article." As told to my wife by my mother-in-law. I suppose that the public sees it not as a "spectrum" but as an "either/or" thing. If you're ... |

It's an American habit to always ask people "what do you do?" at social gatherings, especially among those of higher socioeconomic status. Although the truly rich folks at the top of the heap don't do that; it's more a trait of people who have room to social climb. I suppose the British do... |

As for the bookstore situation, the solution is simple: get a Kindle. Heck, ebooks are cheaper anyways. I live in Italy and my Italian is good enough for comic books and that's about it. I mean, I guess I could read a novel but it would be work . With my Kindle, I can call up just about any English ... |

I want to do this, too. Are there any such jobs/gigs for writing? Writing is about the one possibly marketable skill I have. I'd like to learn programming but I don't know whether or not I can hack it. I've heard of people who do 'bookkeeping' remotely. I've even seen online courses for it. Of cours... |

Years ago, when I was an undiagnosed grade schooler, I decided I could either remain the quiet, mumbling, withdrawn type or I could go for broke. I went for broke. I'm well into my 30s now, and even today people think I'm a loudmouthed attention seeker and a weirdo, but sometimes I'll meet someone w... |

Sense of humor's a tall order for her, I'm afraid. Not to knock her, that's just how she is. Also, the window failure usually happens when I'm home alone and am supposed to be in charge. I need some kind of method or system to prevent window failure on my own. |

My dad tried to discourage me from pursuing music. I guess he thought it was a waste of time and money and that I wouldn't stick to it. It wasn't that he forbade me, it was mainly stuff like him refusing to help me by a cheapo starter guitar, stuff like that. I eventually got my hands on various bit... |

My wife's mad at me because I left a window wide open while we were out... again.
Anybody got a method or trick to remembering to make sure all the windows are closed, all the doors are locked, the lights are off, etc. etc.? It would seem that my brain, acting alone, isn't up to snuff. |

I'm mostly unemployed. What work I do is for peanuts. I have an MA and left grad school before getting my PhD. I'm one of those social science/humanities types, so maybe that's my problem. Well, people in that crowd are always forwarding articles on Facebook about humanities grads who 'got creative'... |
