Very uncomfortable with it as a cultural imposition. Last year my family got very upset with me because I didn't want to do anything with them for my birthday. |

Getting a job has been the main event to advance my social life in a while, and that's still pretty shallow. I have one friend that I've known since primary school. I have trouble making lasting connections besides that and when I do I usually end up losing respect for the person for one reason or a... |

He probably wants to make conversation but doesn't know how to carry it on, even with all of the effort you put into instigating it. Have you tried angling your questions differently? Do you ask things that can be answered with more than a yes or no? Through this you could ask for more elaboration. ... |

Agree that excessive eye contact could be as much of an indicator as not holding any. For a period of freshman year I tried to always make eye contact, particularly with a crush that I had, and didn't go back to avoiding it until he pointed out that it seemed like I was always staring at him/into hi... |

Symptoms can overlap quite a bit... I nearly got dx'd with schizophrenia but they went for autism instead which ended up being the right one. Psychosis can also be apparent/exacerbated with depression. |

I think it's primarily stigma and a lack of understanding. Whether or not they're aware of the diagnosis on you, we can't be neurotypical, and so even with effort we will come across as off. This isn't a bad thing, but I suppose it makes it difficult for people to interact with us. It's sad. |

What I've realized that eccentricity is only considered cute and quirky when it is intentionally played up as such by people who can withhold normalcy with no effort. Natural individuality and "weirdness" and what have you leads us to being ostracized because although we are sincere, it is... |

Gender dysphoria is common on the autism spectrum No it's not, even studies that have been done do not back this in the slightest. Anyway, OP may well identify with this http://www.crisismagazine.com/2016/autism-transgendered-movement Lol, please get your cult bull out of here. Where's the "ba... |

Please validate him. Gender dysphoria is common on the autism spectrum and it's extremely painful even with full acceptance from the people in our lives. |

I'm sorry I can't read that entire block of text, but from what I can gauge, yes, that is common. Psych professionals are honestly jokes and I don't understand how they can go through years of studies and still screw over patients the way that they do. Most that I've encountered, know less than I do... |

Do you get stuck on the actual answer? I just try to address it as directly and pleasantly as possible. Then we go on with our days. |

I think it's just polite small talk. If it isn't intensely private/personal they probably don't have that much interest in it, it's expected in conversation though. |
