I imagine for similar reasons that yoga would work this way as well, calming the mind while promoting deep body awareness and coordination. It's always made me feel fantastic when I was in the habit of doing it. In fact I should break out the mat this winter.

The person then was trying to get me to say that it was awesome, which it wasn't. Is the other person usually someone who has already tried the thing they are asking you about? Not necessarily. I think it's because she sees me quite often and finds it peculiar that my reactions are more muted than ...

I imagine one reason is that in a culture constructed around extraversion that a condition that often renders someone silent and socially awkward has a built in problem. There are too few voices to be heard above the rabble. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Plus a lot of those other groups have been ...

An example would be I would eat at a restaurant on a regular basis and the person would ask me how the food was. My answer is good, which it was and I considered that complimentary. The person then was trying to get me to say that it was awesome, which it wasn't. I'd save that description for a mind...

I've known at least one sociopath and their chameleon like abilities are utilized to manipulate and control others not necessarily to cope with a deficiency. I mean, perhaps, in a way they are. They're coping with a lack of empathy, but I doubt that's the case with people on the spectrum. It seems l...

I think it can be adaptive in the sense that you can "fake it til you make it." For example, it can be the same thing as covering other bands until your own style emerges or copying someone's writing style until you develop your own. I think everyone NT or ND does it to some degree, but I'...

Do you have trouble dealing with it? There's this odd thing of describing things to the hilt. The most mundane things have become awesome and epic. Do you just play along or is it difficult for you to use this language if you don't really mean it? For example, I'll call something good or pretty good...

It's more referencing a personality than borrowing it, to be clear. I wouldn't say I "become" that person and don't even have that ability, but use certain aspects to attempt to adjust myself in the appropriate direction. (I read up a little on BPD just now and it's not even close to how I...

This happens to me a lot. When watching a show if someone is doing something cringeworthy I find it near impossible to watch, even if it's supposed to be funny. I assume their embarrassment. I did this a lot as a child in school as well. If someone was misbehaving I'd assume their guilt and often fe...

Not so much movie scripts, but I am a human jukebox. I'll hear words, think thoughts or hear certain sounds and it'll immediately prime the appropriate song in my head, oftentimes nonstop all day. I often thought that in a pinch I could get a job arranging soundtracks for quirky romantic comedies or...

The owner of the farm owns the store (the company store, it's like I'm living in a mining town or something  ) so he extends an account there as part of the agreement. I'm allotted a certain amount each month. People left for various reasons. The owner is a super intense guy and the young farm...

The usual course of action is that a trail builder will draw up a proposal, do impact studies, make drawings, flag out trail, on and on similar to any public works project. Lucky for me the owner has such a seat of the pants style of doing things, I doubt he'd have the patience to do things conventi...

My connection to the work and all the unique possibilities got me through (he who has a why can deal with any how, etc, etc) but I don't want to overstate things. It is a pretty nice barn and eventually we drug some mattresses up there and made it quite homie. The noise and the chaos of the situatio...

I think, Cat, that the high water mark was right when I got here. There was a farm manager, two young farmers who were long board riders, climbers and endurance trails runners, a woman who was trying to set up a hiker's hostel and wilderness education camps and zip-line retreat, a guy who was intern...

I like the way you're thinking, Ariel, but the journalist never actually met me. He was just going off of hearsay from someone else who just assumed I was autistic. I wasn't that upset when I saw it since it was something so buried within the article that I doubt many people even noticed it and even...

This only started making sense after I started identifying as Aspie. I never knew why I did this before, but I imagine myself as morphing into different people according to the situation. If I think I need to act compassionate, I'll actually feel like I'm borrowing the body and brain of a person I k...
