I was tested last month, and recently saw the doctor about my test results. The testing included sort of an interview about what my goals were in regards to the testing as well as the actual series of tests. My conversation with the doctor covered that, and in his assessment, I'm probably not on the...

It isn't just something people on the spectrum encounter. People with disabilities in general to varying degrees sometimes run afoul of people trying to treat them as if they're less capable regardless of what their actual condition and limitations might be. I've seen it with physical disabilities- ...

Not in denial, but rather taking a really good look at my own situation and experiences vs.what I've read about aspie traits. There are a lot of things I can relate to but at the same time there are major differences, and some traits I don't exhibit at all. I'm still awaiting a definitive answer abo...

I finally got tested a couple of weeks ago and I'm awaiting the results and the follow-up appointment with the doctor. I've been noticing that my parents seem very disturbingly enthusiastic about me possibly being diagnosed as having Asperger's, to the point of actually being very upset when I point...

I've been having sort of a low-level dispute with my family over whether or not Aspeger's is real or not. Basically, they know about it, but seem to accept the whole concept of it in a broad or abstract sense, but are more selective when I talk about the possible of me being an aspie or not (awaitin...

I was in a really bad mood when I initially posted all of that. Over the past few months I've been working on my writing, pursuing testing to see if I'm on the spectrum or not, getting help from my friends with much-needing work in my apartment, and looking at ways I might find a job that's a good f...

That long of a day seems like a terrible idea. You won't have very much time to manage because you'll be spending it all at work or in transit. Also, long-term sleep deprivation is bad for your health. You can't "learn" to live with less sleep; you can learn to handle it short term, but y...

I've come up with a better plan to find a job, and my family is encouraging me to pursue full time work, so, here's what I'm thinking: I have degrees in video/audio production and graphics, but since those are closely related to my special interests, I need to find a real job, so I'm looking at fast...

When I first started making contact with the disability community years ago when I was first in a wheelchair, this whole thing was a big shock to me. The "community" playing a big one-upmanship game about who is "more disabled" or whose disability is more legitimate, and basing i...

I had a very heated conversation with my mother last night about how fed up she and my father are with my laziness and not properly maintaining the apartment they 're helping me pay for. We've had the same argument before, but it got really bad this time, basically I was told they're not really buy...

We've had the same argument before, but it got really bad this time, basically I was told they're not really buying it about my depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and possibly being on the spectrum. This though is their usual MO: accept or dismiss something based on convenience and how it fits the...

Maybe if you get an actual diagnosis they won't be as dismissive. I hope so. The problem has always been that they obviously accept thing in a broad sense but sometimes tend to be selective about what details they'll accept, so they'll accept a condition as something real while picking and choosing...
