Welcome to Wrong Planet! I don't know if you wanted people to comment on the traits that you mentioned, but the part where you mentioned having difficulty being able to clean things up sounds a lot like executive dysfunction. I'm not sure if all autistics have it, but it's definitely a very common a... |

I think that it's good that you told her the truth and to respect your choices, but at the same time I wouldn't be at all surprised if she was upset. Clearly, church is important to her, and she probably thought she was doing you a favor by inviting you to come with her (even if she probably should ... |

There's a 99.99% chance that I'm overthinking this (so feel free to ignore what I'm about to say), but my mind jumped to absence seizures when I read your post. Around 1/4 of autistics develop epilepsy during puberty (I'm just guessing that you're around that age, although once again I could be comp... |

I think everyone has some problems with waiting for information, regardless of neurotype. If you can do something to distract you, especially something that you'd enjoy, that might help to pass the time. If you're really worried that you won't be accepted, try to remind yourself that even if you don... |

I don't know what you mean by "in between", but I definitely have a really difficult time grasping the concept of gender and how most people identify really strongly with one of these two ideas (male or female). I mean, I understand gender roles and stereotypes and all that, and I'm fine w... |

Autistic children get every support, every accommodation is made for them, whereas autistic adults get nothing. People still seem to believe autism evaporates at 18, and are only interested in autistic children, not autistic people. Annoys me. So no I don't feel sorry for them - they're certainly g... |

How tolerant are people in your community? Do you think people would speak up for you if there were issues, or do you think you'd largely be on your own to deal with them? |

What you're describing doesn't sound odd to me at all. For me at least, when I have a lot of energy I can socialize pretty well and will more or less seem "normal". When I'm tired, I either go into some kind of frenzied hyperdrive where I'm all over the place, or I shut mostly down, not ta... |

This question really, really threw me for a loop. At first, I was going to tell you that disliking change and having specific routines is a really common autism thing and leave it at that, but then I thought about it. Anxiety and OCD, which would definitely make one more comfortable with having set ... |

Does the neurodiversity movement really not include treatment for people with autism? I was always under the understanding that the movement was supportive of helping "lower functioning" (for lack of a better term) autistics find ways of coping and communication that work for them. |

So, I'm a queer sixteen-year-old girl (who asked a question a few weeks ago on this forum about being asexual). I've known that I wasn't straight for a few years now, and am pretty comfortable with it. I've been aware of the concept of "gaydar", being able to tell if people are straight or... |

I think it depends. There could be an underlying cause for your fear that's not asexuality, or it could be that you're a sex-repulsed panromantic asexual who just thinks the whole idea of sex is strange. |
